Ijust bought a computer (pc) and I have a laptop (mac) and I am thinking to buy a rhino licence, I was wondering if there was floating licences so that I can use on both once at a time?

If not, If I buy a license do I have to choose between mac and windows? or can I change my mind and remove the licence for windows and install it on my mac at some point? (so far it was the companies I worked with that provided rhino already on their computer so I am not sure how it works)

My laptop was previously partitioned to have both Windows and iOS but I had to get a new one so I no longer have access to Windows on my device. I was wondering if anyone knew if I can transfer my license so I can just use it for my iOS side instead? Is this possible or do I need to purchase the software again?

I get that these decisions were taken a while ago, and rhino is (unfortunately) bound to windows ui elements, but i really hope that the top priority for v7 is to unify everything. Unity, Nuke, Houdini etc. show how it is done

Hi, more than a year later and I have a following question.

I have a Rhino 5 educational licence for Windows that I bought few years ago. If I now buy the upgrade to Rhino 7 is it gonna be compatible for both Mac and Windows?

Right click the desktop and go through your settings and set your computer as a developer.

You will need an IDE. Visual Studio Community is free.Download and install the Software development Kit (SDK) and the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK).

The process of making (or learning about making or deploying) a branded Custom Windows for your own Company that makes a hardware device requires you to be an OEM. This is the workaround as recommended by Microsoft in their ADK tutorial Creating a Custom Windows for Deployment tutorial at msdn (i think). Whether it's limited in duration or scope, or or not, doesn't matter. You now have an OEM license that passes the Microsoft screening.

As to whether you can access the table to alter or edit the Product key? I just found out about the product key in the eufi, we'll have to wait and see. I will follow up. The key is injected at the mfg not in Redmond so I'm thinking the mfg gets a tool. I will ask for one. But the oem should be based on GUID. if you add, remove, or replace any hardware device that is in the GUID, the computer will get a new GUId. This probably only applies to people who want to escape their OEM product key. I think the sound card, graphics card and network card and processor make up the guid. Just change one of them for a new number and you should be able to escape out of the OEM label.

If you want to "add" to the uefi to escape having to put in the key every time you install Windows, just make a system image of your windows and designate a hdd as a Backup location. Make the image after all the updates, drivers, and software have been installed. Making a second one at a network location is a good idea also. This will automate the entire installation. A send option is You can edit the wim file and stream in your product key. I think the file name is install.wim? not sure. I've heard of it but never tried. Third option is to make a deployment using an answer file. Basically the installation refers to a file that you prepare that holds all the information the Windows install needs. You can include other stuff as part of the install. The answer key is where you add the product key.

To clarify though, OEM licences were stored in UEFI/BIOS, but now you have "digital entitlement" where your licence is stored online with Microsoft along with a hash of the details of the machine hardware.

I was wondering if anyone can advise on the licence cost for upgrading Server 2016 Standard to 2019? I can easily find pricing for a fresh purchase of 2019 but am not able to find any information about the upgrade options.

Btw, not sure if this is relevant but my copy of 2016 is an OEM. I bought it with a brand new tower (in fact I bought it all just a few months ago so not sure why the licence for Server 2019 was not made available by the hardware manufacturer at that time as the OS was already released then). Does the fact that my licence for 2016 is an OEM and purchased relatively not that long ago change anything in terms of how much I should pay for 2019?

I guess I will have to contact my hardware manufacturer and see if they can supply a 2019 OEM licence at a reduced cost as my server is only few months old and they should have made 2019 available at the time I was purchasing it.

If you are using Hyper V and have all the same level of Os 2016 . You can set updates via hyper V. It is much more stable than WSUS. It means you only download the update one time. I am a Sonic Wall shop. If you use Sonicwall your updates could be slowed down by some of it;s features. It sometimes sees the stream from the 3rd oarty cloud vendor MS uses for updates as a flood attack.

It is not free, what the poster was saying is that 2019 is basically 2016 R2 (in that type of respect). If you have no specific requirement for any 2019 features, upgrading is a choice not a requirement, but you still need to buy it

Unfortunately, I don't get a "continue trial" option. I get the following licence activation box only. I use the same login details here as what I use to log into my affinity account online. I'm not able to get past this to open the application

I have the same issue as user m3000. The app downloaded is an .MSIX install, it is a Windows store installer. If you are having an issue with the Windows Store or any Store apps there is NO WAY to activate the app.

Serif programmers MUST take a different tack and have an option to pass off the Universal license number for local activation. Then once the app is open you can sign into the account inside the account for server side confirmation. This will avoid any firewall issues as well as 3rd party security program firewall blocking.

OR provide an EXE install.

Please can you confirm you are getting the same error about the Affinity ID and Password not being recognised. This shouldn't be related to a Firewall blocking Affinity, as you'd get a different error as well as notification from your firewall the app is being blocked.

There is no workaround when the server cannot be connected. This NOT a Firewall issue in my case. Is there a way to activate the app after sign in.with my account I have a Universal license and it works as designed on the Mac and iPad, the Windows store has a LOT to be desired and i need a way to launch the app without first activating, THEN sign into my account. An .MSIX files can look to a URL for updates to run the newest version, perhaps a post activation version would address this issue.

Hi, I had the same issue. However I tried first to use my V2 license code to get in. The trick was, that didn't read correctly, what the input mask really wanted - you should use your ID, used for your Affinity account and then don't put in your license code, but your password for your Affinity account.

The email address is the one associated with your account at the Affinity Store (store.serif.com or affinity.serif.com/store) and the password for it. It is not the email address associated with these forums (forum.affinity.serif.com).

And if you are letting a password manager fill this in for you, it might be choosing the wrong one. (That happened to me on my iPad, where the facial recognition and automatic fill-in chose the wrong account.)

I did a reset of my password manually. Start one Affinty App, in the Dialog to enter your ID, i clicked "forgot my Password" an set a Passphrase easy to remember instead of usung automatic feature by the Mac

I have now installed it directly from the Windows Store. This allowed me to select a trial option before going to the activation screen (this does not happen with the download from the affinity store).

@stokerg mentioned above that the logs showed you had entered either the wrong ID or password during the Activation step. And you mentioned you've changed the password, and clearly (from the screenshot above) you know the right ID and password

If that same ID and password are failing in the Activation step, possibly there's a flaw in the Activation code that can't handle some characters in email addresses or in the password. Have you tried a shorter password, and one containing more common characters (perhaps just upper- and lower-case letters and digits)? Sometimes excessively complex passwords can confuse applications. (I also saw one post mentioning an issue with "&" in an email address.)
