I think it is wonderful to have so many nice mambers

Yes it is, and I found the site fine. Thanks for the work you are
doing for the group.

Took me a while - as I am supposed to be doing something else - to get
on and get a profile which didn't come up on the members' page - now,
maybe I will have some good reason to go out to our little (its only
about ten miles long) lake and explore it - maybe a washtub with a
piece of 1x4 for paddle! (When it is much much warmer and the ice is
gone!)

Thanks for the invitation. I was first introduced to S&A by Sir Brian
Smith when I was 8 and he was a post-doc at Berkeley. He gave me a
first edition of S&A and my father read it to me each night. I
continued the tradition with my son when he was very young.

A bit more added background - I first started reading Mr. Ransome when
I was about 11 - found, I believe, all the books in our Junior High
library in Enid, Oklahoma - and I do recall reading them pretty much
in order. I did a lot of fantasizing adventures with the S and A's as
well as tons of drawings illustrating these fantasties. My lady
friend discovered a Godine Swallows and Amazons in a bookstore/
coffeeshop in Boulder some time ago and now have all the Godine
editions.
