Hello AthensGaBicycling riders,

Happy New Year!

The best news is that everyone is back in their normal routines, so the rides continue again this week. Other good news is the “rainy season” seems to be behind us and we have no group rides scheduled for Thursday, which seems to be the coldest day of the week.

On other positive news, the last 2:00pm Marvelous Monday Mitten Ride before the holiday break resembled an old Georgia Cycle Sport Thursday evening ride with the group starting small, but by the time it crossed the railroad tracks by the UGA intramural fields was a large peloton. In the case of the Monday afternoon ride, the ride started from various starting points and then all the participants merged together at the Oconee Heights Baptist Church. With this in mind, we have broadened the start locations and changed the “official start times.”

Marvelous Monday Mitten Ride:
Three ride departures:
1. 2026 South Milledge Ave @ Shops of Athens at 1:45pm
2. 585 Barber St @ Team Clemont at 2:00pm
3. 4180 Old Jefferson Rd @ Oconee Heights Baptist Church at 2:15pm

Saturday:

With the Winter Bike League getting into the January faster and longer routes, many riders who have been competing in the WBL in December will slowly migrate to the Antelope rides. With this in mind here are the three rides scheduled for Saturday:

10:00am Cheetah from The Hub
10:00am Antelope from Oconee Courthouse
12:00noon Gazelle from Oconee Courthouse

AGB Tip of the Week:

A recent study showed that a person can get 80% of the same results of a workout by visualizing the workout and taking the same time to visualize as the actual workout. With this in mind just think about your results, if you visualize yourself riding your bike, while actually riding your bike!
