Hello AthensGaBicycling riders,

As most of us know, almost all evening rides will start 30 minutes earlier, starting this week for a 5:30pm start time for the month of October. (Please check the ride calendar for specific ride times.) As we all know, the evening rides will stop for the winter when daylight savings time ends in about a month on November 2.

Also, with the shorter days and cooler mornings, the permanent scheduled AGB weekend rides are moving to 9:00am.

• The Saturday Antelope Ride from the Watkinsville Courthouse moves to 9:00am this weekend and for future Saturdays

• The Sunday Gazelle Ride from Whit Davis Elementary moves to 9:00am this weekend and for future Sundays

AGB Tip of the Week:

CO2, the next day. Many people do not realize that after changing a flat on the road and filling the tube/tire with CO2, the next day the tube/tire can lose half of its pressure. This does not mean that the tube is bad or there is a cut or puncture in the tube. This is simply the normal effect of CO2 in a bicycle tube. A good idea is after you are back home after using a CO2 cartridge, complete deflate your tire, letting out as much CO2 as possible, and then re-inflate with a normal air pump. Of course, there are rumors that some riders are using helium in their tubes to allow their bikes to float above the road, but this strategy has yet to be seen in an Athens peloton.
