Dear AthensGaBicycling riders,

We are in luck this week! Everyday has a very low chance of rain with highs in the low 90s most days. Hopefully everyone visualized riding all last week so pent-up demand will have a positive impact on the number of people joining the group rides this week. Also, with the Fourth of July, behind us, we have no more national holidays until September, so we will not have unified vacation distractions for the pelotons.

Today, seems to be the very best day for a ride with the highs in the low 80s, but in case you did not plan to ride today, no worries, plenty of rides remain for the remainder of the week including a full slate of weekend rides:
Ride Calendar

This week we will focus on the Gazelle rides. If you feel like riding between 15-17 miles per hour, you can ride almost everyday of the week with rides especially tailored for you:

This evening (Monday) at 6:00pm from Bostwick (just a little outside Watkinsville) - paceline riding
Wednesday at 6:00pm from Whit Davis Elementary
Thursday at 6:00pm from Whit Davis Elementary (different route and normally a different group from Wednesday) - paceline riding
Sunday morning at 6:00pm from Whit Davis Elementary (longer route from the weekday rides) - paceline riding

AGB Tip of the Week:

The Tour de France has started. If you have been waiting all year for the tour to begin or if you have never watched the preeminent bicycling race, it is once again available for free on the NBC Sports Network or online for a fee http://tourdefrance.nbcsports.com/ The tour runs each morning from July 4-26 (with a few rest days).Please remember that many people in the Athens (Georgia not Greece) peloton DVR the race, so as a common courtesy normally members of the Athens peloton only talk about the prior day’s race as to not spoil the race for others. Of course, it is also a good idea to not bet on the current day’s race outcome for the same reasons.
