Athens, Georgia the premier bicycling community in the United States!*
Hello AthensGaBicycling riders,
A beautiful day for a bike ride for everyone who has off today for the holiday!
Today’s (Monday’s) ride choices:
12:00noon Elk ride from Pittard Park; Winterville to Watson Mill State Park about 30 miles
1:45/2:00/2:15pm Gazelle Mitten Ride ride (mittens are definitely optional this week) with Three ride departure points: 2026 South Milledge Ave @ Shops of Athens at 1:45pm; 585 Barber St @ Team Clermont at 2:00pm; or 4180 Old Jefferson Rd @ Oconee Heights Baptist Church at 2:15pm; remember the goal is to have all riders meet at 2:15pm at the church and continue the ride of about 30 to 40 miles, depending on the route and starting point.
Wednesday has a high forecast of 64° with ride choices:
1:00pm Elk ride from Oconee Heights Baptist Church
2:00pm Antelope Wonderful Winter Wednesday ride from Oconee County Courthouse
Saturday brings in addition to Alto with The Winter Bike League, two other rides:
10:00am Antelope from the Oconee Courthouse. A great ride last week due to ChrisV getting ride commitments in spite of the starting cold temperatures. This week the ride should be in the 50°s to help even more people make early commitments.
10:00am (window open) Cheetah from The Hub in five points. This is one of the best rides of the year: Alto, 110 miles, 5.5 hours. One rider last week stated, “Alto is the best, most beautiful and easiest rides [of the WBL season].” We are withholding his name, since others have a slightly different opinion. But you can find out for yourself this Saturday.
11:00am Gazelle from Pittard Park in Winterville. Join Georgia as she leads another great ride through Watson Mill State Park and the relatively flat riding of Oglethorpe county!
Good riding!
Joe
