This year, I will be running a Napoleonic naval campaign using Omnihedron's BEAT TO QUARTERS rules by Neil Gow. This will be similar to the action seen in the Russell Crowe movie, "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" and A&E's HORNBLOWER series. Players will take the roles of Royal Navy officers fighting the French, Spanish, Dutch, and assorted other maritime enemies.
The campaign will be run on the "A" Week in either the first (Noon to 4) or second (4 to 8) slot. The first meeting will be on Saturday, September 11th., and we'll determine which slot at that time.
I have room for five players. The available positions are: 3 lieutenants, 2 midshipmen, a sailing master, a ship's surgeon (or physician), and a Marine lieutenant. On Saturday, we'll make up characters (and take a look at the Gregory Peck film, "Captain Horatio Hornblower").
The schedule for the quarter will be:
Saturday, September 11th. Character generation (and movie !)
Saturday, September 25th. Chapter One: "Goree"
Saturday, October 9th. Chapter Two: "Blueberg"
Saturday, October 23rd. Chapter Three: "Port Jackson"
Saturday, November 6th. Chapter Four: "Cape Horn"
Attached to this e-mail are a list of recommended sources of inspiration for the campaign, and a profile of the ship on which it takes place (HMS Reunion).
God Save the King,
