The National Homebrew Competition is coming soon, March 25th to April
8th for first round to be precise.I am sure a lot of you all know
about this already and have been involved in the years before, if not
check out the site for more details http://www.beertown.org/events/nhc/.
I'm really curious about competitions and would be interested in
hearing anyone experiences. Any feedback from people who have entered,
won, or even judged a competition would be great.

I think if any of us entered it would be fantastic. I entered an
oatmeal stout of mine into the 2008 Bay Street Bash and won the stout
category. As far as a national competition, I'm paraphrasing Justin
when I say the odds are so slim of getting into the second round that
it's best to submit a beer vetted through another competition. The
more competitions it has won, the better (obviously).

But don't let that kind of talk freak any of you out... do it just the
same. Even if you don't take home a blue ribbon, the score sheets
judging your beer give you insight into what you need to do to
improve.

I personally move that each and every one of us, if possible, submit a
brew we are proud of off to the AHA nationals. Let our new club really
catch the AHA with their pants down! Ha-ha!!!
