Folks,

I am reposting a good feature request sent to me by Milda M. De Voe at Pen Parentis.

Please feel free to post such ideas and requests here.

This sounds like a brilliant idea. ("free" also sounds astonishingly good)

In my events, we charge "pay what you can" -- as you design the ticketing site, perhaps you can add this as a possibility for people to choose.
also, it would be nice to have RSVPs for free events. ("RSVP here for this FREE event!") just to collect email addresses.

Also, our first fundraiser (last night!) was a "suggested donation" (many people paid only half of the ask price, though some paid more.)
Maybe this is too "nonprofit" and you are targeting dance companies and theater companies...

just wanted to add my two cents.

If I was still in theater I'd kiss your feet. Since I'm not, I'll just send a general shout out--you guys are really terrific.

Thanks.

Hi all,
Another Drupal developer here (way to represent so far, folks!)

Our company, Message Agency, builds websites almost exclusively for nonprofits and I'll echo Ms. De Voe's comments -- "Free" and "pay what you will" are two very common requests for ticketing options.

I'll add a few other points in this vein. I don't know how much any of these features will impact the implementation, but these are features that I've implemented and re-implemented for clients:
  • additional donation. On top of what the user is paying already, offer an open ended "additional donation" feature
  • shopping cart or single form. flexibility to implement a shopping cart based checkout procedure, or a single standalone signup form as needed.
  • giving levels. Clients *always* want some variation of the following
    • suggested contribution levels with clever labels (for example: $50 Friend, $100 Supporter, $500 Advocate, $5000 Champion)
    • contribution levels with compounding benefits at each level (for example: $50 - 1 ticket + T-shirt, $500 - 2 VIP tickets + 2 T-shirts, your name in the event program)
  • group registration. some variation of the following
    • allow one user (for example an executive assistant) to purchase N registrations and enter full or partial registration information for all N individuals. (sub-registrations)
    • allow one user to purchase N registrations and provide registration information for all N sub-registrants. Manually or automatically follow up with each sub-registrant to prompt/nag them into completing their registration info.
    • allow admins to specify how much registration information is required for sub-registrants.
  • kiosk registration. flexibility to offer a streamlined or custom version of the registration for in-person self registration or point-of-service registration.

/aaron

Riffing off on this:

  • Discounted tix for donors at different levels.  i.e.  all donors get x% off, platinum donors get y% off
  • something like a coupon code  (i.e. when you donate during our EOY campaign you get a coupon to redeem for any event next year)
While adding these features to the list, I'm also mindful of keeping it simple and not wanting to create something too complex for most orgs to manage.

Peace,
Vonn

Hi,

First off I want to say to Milda: You should seriously look at
eventbrite for your RSVP's for free events. Its free for that and
really really great.

My feature request. Integrate with my Donor Database, CRM and emailing
platform. Some of the ones I use are:

Mailchimp (email)
Highrise (CRM)
Donortools (donor database)

For instance when I set up a event in Eventbrite, I send a email using
mailchimp. Mailchimp then tells me how much my mailing cost, how many
people purchased tickets with eventbrite and gives me a ROI.
