Apologies if this was posted to the wrong board, Trance..
Originally, this was specific (sort of) to AvC, and more specifically, "How to Win Informal Arguments and Debates" by Klytu. When I log into AvC that topic is perched at the top, with the little gray push pin icon. My rational being I must have clicked on something to pin the topic -
what I couldn't imagine. Eventually, the issue has morphed into a more general question. After some web-searching pinning/unpinning seems to have been a topic that has popped up a few times.
From what little I could find - and I'll admit the information has been sparse - apparently, at one time you (meaning anyone?) could pin topics in Google Groups so they showed up at the top of the group page. I assume this was to make it easier to follow topics of particular interest. I could pin topics that were of interest to me, and you could pin different topics that were of interest to you, etc. I stumbled across a very short post in another group that mentioned clicking on the topic in question and by the group name right-click to find a pin/unpin feature. I haven't found anything
Now, I could be completely wrong. I didn't see anything that specifically said it was restricted to moderators only, but like I said the information was pretty vague.
And of course this feature may have once been available to all and now has been removed or restricted by Google. If it's a moderator-only feature that explains why I can't find anything to pin/unpin a specific topic.
