I am getting spam showing up for AvC threads this morning, and am wondering if the threads are ok to open.

What is going on?

It's better not to open them Thea and definitely don't click on the links.

The Spammers are using Dev's email address to bypass the Moderator queue.

I've reported it to Google but they haven't done anything to deal with the issue yet.
 
So, we'll just have to wait until they resolve it.

A lot of other groups are having the same problem.

I keep thinking it's time for a really mild Jan to March.

The problem with that here in TO is that when that happens our summer is rainy, cold, and generally miserable. <sigh>

Fuck, really? I guess I'm not surprised, but I did kind of hope it was
more of a one-shot deal.

The e-mail address I post with was, of course, long-ago rendered
useless by spam, which made it perfect for moderation (since you get
all those annoying updates) and I rarely check it. I think the length
of time makes this two separate incidents in which the same e-mail
address was tapped, though.

We're getting those Spam posts daily. I think that's why you had that problem recently.

I was reporting all the early one's as Spam when I reported it to Google.

Then I stopped and started to just remove them but it may have been too late.

They did stop for a while and then when you posted to the main site they started again.

So it looks like someone is doing it manually (putting your email in the reply-to) and deliberately.

Otherwise they would have had no way of knowing your account was restored.

Pretty sleazy.
