I was thinking that if it is possible to skip the grub and directly bootinto the login screen something like windows or mac by reducing the grub delay to maybe 0sec can anyone help me and if i do that will i ever able to see grub if i wanted to. If yes then how if no then feature request.
By default, you must log in with a Microsoft account in order to install Windows 11 or go through the box (OOBE) setup process that triggers the first time you turn on a new laptop or desktop. Though Microsoft accounts are free, there are many reasons why you would want to install Windows 11 using a local account only.
Maybe you want to use a local account because you are installing Windows 11 on a child's PC or on a PC that you plan to sell, give to a friend or donate to a charity (without giving other people access to personal data). Or perhaps you just like your privacy and don't want to create an account with Microsoft in the first place.
Whatever your reason for doing so, it's easy to install or set up Windows 11 with a without using a Microsoft account. Below, we'll show you two methods: the first involves issuing some commands during the install / OOBE processor. The second, which only works for a clean install, requires you to create a modified USB install disk using a free tool called Rufus.
There's a simple trick for setting up a local account that involves issuing a command to keep Windows from requiring Internet to install / set up and then cutting off Internet at just the right time in the setup process. This works the same way whether you are doing a clean install of Windows 11 or following the OOBE process on a store-bought computer.
2. Insert a USB Flash drive you want to use as an install disk if one is not already inserted. Note that this drive will be completely erased during the process and it must be at least 8GB. If you are just installing Windows in a virtual machine, you can create an ISO file instead of writing directly to a Flash drive, but we'll assume you're not doing that here.
7. Toggle "Remove requirement for an online Microsoft account" to on and click OK. You may also want to toggle on the other options, which include Removing the Secure Boot / TPM 2.0 and RAM requirements. You can also toggle on "Create a local account with username" and enter your username here and it won't need to prompt you during installation. You can also toggle on "Set regional options to the same values as this user's" and it won't prompt you for the country or keyboard.
Rufus will take a few minutes to copy files to the USB Flash drive. When it's done, you will have a bootable Flash drive. Be sure to click "skip" when you see the ice cream cone on the screen during install.
Don't worry - it's quick and painless! Just click below, and once you're logged in we'll bring you right back here and post your question. We'll remember what you've already typed in so you won't have to do it again.
Spotify takes around 10 seconds, sometimes considerably longer, to respond to things like pausing or changing song. Navigating the menus also slows down when this happens. When this issue is present, I cannot control windows spotify via spotify browser. The CPU usage goes up considerably when the problem is occuring, from 0.6% when normal to around 30% when the problem is happening.
Thanks for the reply. Have you encountered this behaviour on any other device or only on this PC? If you haven't tested on other devices, please do so. If possible, please also log in with a different account on the affected PC and see if the behaviour is the same. You can use the account of someone you know or make a new one yourself.
The problem is only on this PC, works fine on my phone. When I logged on with a different account it worked fine as well, but I didn't test it for long. As the problem isn't always present, it can make it hard to test! In any case, it hasn't been playing up as often in the last few days. I'll keep you updated!
I'm afraid not. It mostly stopped on its own. It still does it occasionally now for me, not often or long enough to be annoying, so I kind of forgot about it. I think it went away when I changed to wifi, but can't check as I'm ethernet only at the moment. Are you on ethernet too?
I am having this same exact issue! Somedays I get horrible +10 second lag for start/pause button, jumping to different parts in a song, and skipping. Saw this post and began testing how Spotify would respond to different internet connections and scenarios. Narrowed down that the issue only occurs when directly connected to ethernet. Occurs even for songs that are downloaded and when no other background processes are running. Not an issue with PC hardware. I have an i7 and 16gb ram. For internet I consistently get over 200MBps download speeds and 10MBps upload speeds. When I force Spotify to tunnel through my VPN the issue goes away, but when I turn my VPN off and revert back to just my ethernet the issue returns. Bizarre since the VPN's connection should be the same or worst than just raw ethernet from my router, right? If you have a decent VPN this could be a good temporary fix if you don't want to constantly unplug your ethernet.
I take back the statement on the VPN working. With more testing I found the issue was still present. When I completely disconnected my PC from internet the lag was resolved for downloaded songs. Night and day comparison with responsiveness for pausing, skipping, etc when internet was disconnected. Frustrating that even though the songs are downloaded I don't get any of the benefits when connected to internet. I read on other forums it's an issue with internet bandwidth. But I don't get it. Everything else like Youtube, gaming, streaming, etc is fine at my 200-300MBps download speeds so why the **bleep** is Spotify like this? I don't want to pay +$10/month on a music subscription where I have to unplug my ethernet cable ever single time I want to listen to music. I hope some of the devs see this and can fix the issue, or at the minimum actually let downloaded songs be played locally while on the internet.
I have the same issue with trying to play/pause/skip songs. It's often very laggy and seems like it's trying to tell a remote server what the action is and it is hanging up somewhere in the process. The commands all eventually complete, but sometimes it's up to a minute later. It's always intermittent, but happens several times a day. I have 1GB up & down so it isn't my internet connection.
My best guess is the system they use to allow you to listen across devices "seemlessly" is the culprit. Always needing to go to external servers just to play/pause is silly. The commands should be completed locally first and then tell the server what it did. If that isn't the issue then I'm stumped. ??
Could you take a look if the same issue would be observed when you log in with a different account?
You can create a free one for testing purposes. This way we'll know if the issue is account-related.
Aside from this though, as an alternative to unplugging your internet connection when listening while we try to resolve this, there might be a more convenient workaround -
Download your songs offline, click on the three dots in the top left corner and switch the app to Offline Mode instead:
Hello and please allow me to add to this discussion for the moderators and support staff. I've had this problem for over a year now and it's actually gotten steadily worse, no matter what device I'm using, OR internet connection. I've moved 3 times and had 3 different providers since it started. On my android it will completely freeze the app and there is only one way to fix it, reboot the entire phone. On my pc, it will freeze and randomly crash while STILL playing the music (although this one hasn't happened in about a year). I've messed with the settings, reinstalled windows, switched to a different phone, switched from ethernet to wifi, from wifi to 5g mobile, gone to public hotspots with excelent ping and high speed, and even had 1gig internet in my home with a ping of 10 and jitter of 2. That should have fixed the issue, but did not. None of these steps helped. I've reinstalled my entire operating system to fix a few windows corruption issues in the last week. I installed spotify before installing my standard programs, except for an anti virus. I even uninstalled the antivirus and turned off defender to see if that helps. Turning it to offline mode is THE ONLY fix. Why that is I have not got a clue, but it has something to do with the button that turns on the new songs on the bottom right. I usually refer to it as the "magic" button because it pulls up songs related to what I've been liking most lately, adding things I didn't know or didn't think to add. When it was first introduced it worked flawlessly. Now? It doesn't do anything. With that unticked, it does preform better, but not good. The DJ works flawlessly (and I love it don't get rid of it).
I uninstalled the app, rebooted, reinstalled, did not work. I logged out, untinstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, logged in with a brand new account, after 5 minutes it did it again. However it took liking songs to begin to slow the app down (which tells me that's part of the problem as a pc repair guy who's used to troubleshooting). I started liking random songs, until I reached about 800 songs and the app after every reboot behaved the same way and began freezing, not responding to key strokes for nearly 30 seconds at a time. I left the app open for an entire week without touching it or rebooting my system to see if it was something to do with a background process trying to catch up. No, it didn't change a thing. It worked great for all of 30 seconds. Clicked next song, and it did the same thing across both accounts.
In offline mode the system doesn't freeze, it simply won't do what I tell it to half the time. It takes over a minute to even load the app on my phone (samsung galaxy s21 ultra 5g on mint mobile). It's not the internet, it's not my devices. And we're not alone. I've talked to a LOT of people who started having this problem about a year and a half ago. The more songs they like, the more it freezes. Offline mode fixes that EXCEPT for trying to load the app, or trying to get it out of offline mode, in which case sometimes the settings do not load at all, just loading a fully black screen. I haven't bothered trying the browser because it entirely defeats the purpose of the app. Which has me considering switching back to Tidal even for a higher price and less music, because at least their app works properly. I LOVE spotify so do not take that as me bashing the company. I've used it for a few years and would rather stick to it. I'm giving it till new year 2025. If it isn't fixed by then, I'm done waiting. This needs to be passed up to the IT team, and if you need logs, next time it freezes which will likely be in about 30 minutes or less, I will gladly try to get those to you.
