Hi there,

I am relatively new to using ATG and am doing some development under ATG10.0.2, using JBoss as my target deployment J2EE server.  I am seeing issues when firing up my system where it looks like the NucleusServlet is not starting up properly, or is not allowing some of the standard WAR files to be correctly deployed.  I have only one instance of ATG running on my system and believe that I have the Dynamo variables correctly set.

My application specific WARs are being deployed, I can navigate my site and, using the Eclipse plugin, can use the ATG component browser.  I am not sure what I might have misconfigured/unconfigured.

I am using JBoss-5.1.0.GA for development.  The error that I am seeing is:

12:49:26,100 INFO  [TomcatDeployment] deploy, ctxPath=/adminui
12:49:27,146 INFO  [[/adminui]] ATG starting on JBoss Web/2.1.3.GA

Same kind of thing when deploying AssetManager, AssetUI-Search, and several others.

Have others seen this kind of issue, and do you have any suggestions?

Thank you very much - any help is appreciated.

I have seen this error when you use unsupported JBOSS version.
You are using GA version but ATG supports JBOSS 5.1.0 EAP

Hi there,

I appreciate the  response.  I downloaded an evaluation of JBoss 5.1.0 EAP - your answer was correct.  I deployed my EAR file to the JBoss EAP and fired it up, and Nucleus started without any issues.

Thank you for your help.  :-)

Hi Nooruddin,

I am trying to use the GA server for development work.  As far as I can tell, the code bases should be the same - any ideas why Nucleus wouldn't start up under the GA server?  I took some classes at Oracle University on ATG development and, in the class, we used JBoss 4.2.3.GA (under ATG 9.1).

ATG supported until ATG9.0 patch 3 which is ATG9.1 p1.
I think you are using latest path of ATG9.1 on which GA is not supported.

I was able to get my dev environment working under JBoss 5.1.0 GA (I am running ATG 10.0.2).  The issue with getting the Nucleus servlet up and running (and then getting various wars deployed to the appropriate contexts) seemed to lay in the ROOT.war.  The web app we are working on deploys to the root context.  So...I would delete the ROOT.war file and deploy my application.  Things seemed to come up, with the exception of the Nucleus stuff starting.  I found that if I left the JBoss ROOT.war in place and changed the context of my application from root to some other context, Nucleus started fine.

Sigh...causes me headaches....

Craig

Hope you have gone through the supported environments for different
ATG versions.

If not, please see here http://www.atg.com/en/products-services/commerce/supported-environments/

For ATG 10.0.2, see here: http://www.atg.com/repositories/ContentCatalogRepository_en/supported_envs/atg_10_0_2.htm

Thanks

The code base for both EAP and for GA seem to be the same.  It is that Nucleus won't start if you try to deploy something to the root context.  So - I simply pointed my war to its own unique context and everything worked out fine.  This is for a development environment, not a production server.  Also - when taking the ATG training through Oracle university, we were using ATG 9.1 and the JBoss 4.2.3GA server.

All seems copacetic now.
