Dear pubmates (public finance and budgeting classmates),
Given the busy schedules we’ll be having this holiday season and the demands of our module on public finance and budgeting, i would like to propose the CREATION OF AN ACADEMIC SUPPORT GROUP. This group will be responsible for sharing reviewers among members in preparation for the weekly quizzes on our readings. Please see details below on how you can join this group and enjoy the benefits.
1) BENEFITS
a) You will receive “reviewers” for the weekly quizzes in Public Finance and Budgeting
b) You’ll have a better chance of getting good grades in the quizzes
c) You won’t feel stressed about not being able to thoroughly read all our readings because you can use the reviewers as your back up plan.
2) REQUIREMENTS
a) As a member, you will make at least one COMPREHENSIVE reviewer for the reading assigned to you (depending on the number of people who sign up). We aim to have at least 21 members so that we will only be doing one reviewer for the entire module. If we get more members than readings, mas maganda, we will have two reviewers for some of the readings. The reviewers must be comprehensive and must be of excellent quality.
b) As a member, you will only use the reviewers as supporting materials. There’s no substitute for reading the assignments yourself, but at least you have a back-up plan. According to our sources, the short quizzes will entail 1) identification and 2) true or false. Short lang daw yung quizzes, 5-10 items lang so it’s important to memorize important terms and understand key concepts.
3) THE SUGGESTED FORMAT OF THE REVIEWERS
Part 1. Important Terms and Definitions (enumerate important terms and give “easy to understand” definitions)
Part 2. Key Concepts to Remember (enumerate and explain key concepts that can be used in true or false questions)
4) FOR THIS SATURDAY, WE ALREADY HAVE “STARTERS” IN PLACE. Pao will do the reviewer for “Tax Policy in Developing Countries”. Cody will do the reviewer for “Tax Challenges Facing Developing Countries.” And I’ll do the reviewer for “Tax Effort and Institutions”. We will share our reviewers with the group on or before 12mn Thursday, so that members can have at least one day (Friday) to review.
