I'm having the same issue. iTunes 11.4, on OS X 10.9.5. This is a serious issue, and it persists no matter what the conversion settings are. The curious thing is, for each batch of converted songs, the "cutoff" point is different, sometimes 3:36 or 2:55 or whatever. For some songs there doesn't seem to be any problem, and for some songs it's impossible to get the full length conversion; of those, the length they get cut at also somehow seems to vary with the filename, artist, etc.
I am having the same problem. It's absolutely infuriating. Imported several mp3 albums into my iTunes library. When starting iTunes, (12.1.2), checks for gapless playback info on all all songs every time. When playing these songs in iTunes, playback randomly stops anywhere from halfway through to 10 seconds before the end. These same tracks will play on an iPhone 6, or in quicktime - so it's not an issue with the mp3 files themselves.
Read all the threads, boards, have submitted multiple feedback to Apple, nada. Seems like this issue has been going on for years with no fix. It will be a HUGE pain in the ***, but looks like I'll have to get out of the iTunes ecosphere.
Yes, it has been going on for years. In fact there have been a whopping 20 posts in the past 1.5 years, not all of which were from different people or from people actually still having the problem. Presumably there is also a large data set of people doing conversions without problems, but people don't post here when they are not having problems. Given the relatively low profile of the issue you might need to do some troubleshooting yourself. Does this happen with all mp3 files? What happens if you rip a CD to mp3 with iTunes and then convert it? I am not a software engineer but if I were I would find an an issue a lot more approachable if presented to me with conditions I could reproduce.
I believe there are many more posts on this subject under different headings because it is so nebulous. People have posted under "Playback cutting off", "iTunes stops song early", "Gapless Playback errors", "iTunes AAC conversion errors" etc, etc.
The AAC conversion issue is more of a secondary problem. We are simply trying to get an mp3 to play all the way through in iTunes. The playback is ending early and skipping to the next song. The mp3 is not corrupted because you can play these same songs all the way through on quicktime, iPhone, or other 3rd party media players. The same track that will not play all the way through on iTunes on my mac, will play perfectly fine when transferred to my iPhone through iTunes.
As a workaround fix, I and other users have attempted to convert the original mp3 files to AAC, as this will sometimes eliminate the playback error. However, the iTunes AAC converter is having issues converting the mp3 file - and is truncating the length. For instance, every track on the album i was converting was converted with a length of 3:09. The CBR setting solution is no longer valid in iTunes 12 as that is no longer an option in preferences.
if i had to guess, i think its an issue with the way iTunes 12 is scanning the mp3 file. Whatever it's 'seeing' is causing the gapless playback info to incorrectly end the song early. No idea what happening with the AAC conversion but would guess they are related, as their must be a similar 'reading' of the file for the conversion.
Found a fix for this problem and the solution isn't too bad! The problem is with the AAC converter in iTunes, simply download a 3rd party audio converter. I used Media human and converted all the songs that I recently download since the issue begun (About a 100, and some did and some didn't have the problem before). Also, I set the settings so the songs were directly imported to my library.
File extension.AWBCategory FileDescriptionThe Adaptive Multi-Rate Wideband (AMR-WB) audio format, also known as the wideband speech codec, is a compression algorithm designed to encode speech with higher fidelity and clarity than the traditional narrowband codecs. AMR-WB supports a wide frequency range, from 50 Hz to 7 kHz, and provides a sampling rate of 16 kHz, allowing for the capture of more detailed nuances in human speech. This makes it an ideal choice for applications that require high-quality voice recordings, such as teleconferencing, voice over IP (VoIP), and mobile phone networks. The AMR-WB format can be used with a range of file extensions, including .awb, .amr, and .3gp, and is supported by most modern multimedia devices, including smartphones, tablets, and computers. Despite its high level of fidelity, AMR-WB files are relatively small in size, making them easy to store, transfer, and share. Whether you're recording a podcast, conducting an interview, or just chatting with friends, the AMR-WB format provides a reliable and efficient way to capture high-quality audio.Associated programsTotal Audio ConverterDeveloped byMIME typeUseful linksMP3 FileFile extension.MP3CategoryAudio FileDescriptionMP3 is the most popular audio file type based on MPEG-1 Layer III compression. Its lossy algorithm was developed in 1991. MP3 codes the sound almost with the same quality, as CD (16-bit stereo), providing compression in size 1 to 10 from the original WAF or AIFF tracks. The quality of MP3 seriously depends on the bitrate. It can be 128 - 256 kbps. Higher bitrates are also supported, but they seriously increase the file size. It is supported by all modern hard- and software players.Associated programsRealOne

AWB, an acronym for Adaptive Multi-Rate Wideband, is primarily used for voice recordings on mobile devices. It represents a codec optimized for encoding human speech at a high quality, leveraging a wider frequency range than its predecessor, AMR. As such, AWB offers clearer and more detailed voice recordings, especially suited for modern mobile communication. In contrast, MP3, developed by the Moving Picture Experts Group, is a well-established format for encoding music and other audio content. It excels in compressing audio into smaller files, making it ideal for storage and streaming, while still maintaining a relatively high quality. MP3's widespread acceptance is a testament to its balance of size and fidelity, coupled with its extensive device and software supportConverting AWB to MP3 often stems from a desire for broader compatibility and versatility. While AWB captures voice with precision, MP3 offers a more universally playable format, ensuring the audio can be played back on nearly any device or platform. The conversion process requires a reliable tool that preserves the nuances of the original voice recording, seamlessly translating the mobile-optimized AWB into the universally embraced MP3.Is it safe to convert AWB to MP3 Online? Our tool converts an uploaded copy of your original file.
