Dear Mi You,
I hope that you are well. Last year I was in contact with you as I helped to set up a Skype interview between yourself and some architects from Queensland who were participating in a workshop at Tonji University in Shanghai during the World Expo. ( I hope that you remember, please see previous correspondence below)
The Queensland Government of Australia and a delegation of the state’s leading architects will be returning to Shanghai next week (from Monday 13th June). During this visit a second workshop exploring adaptive reuse and sustainable design will be held in collaboration with Tonji University and the eminent urban planner and UNESCO winner Professor Ruan Yisan.
I wondered whether you might be interested in meeting with Queensland based architects or Professor Ruan next week to discuss their views and experience in this field, which could potentially feed into articles you may be planning?
This workshop will feature a talk on adaptive reuse by Professor Ruan Yisan (Director of the National Research Center of Historic Cities (NRCHC), China), who recently visited Queensland to meet with key architects. Professor Ruan has successfully conserved and sustainably redeveloped historic cities and towns in China for over 30 years, transforming these into important cultural heritage sites and international tourist destinations.
Queensland’s architects and designers are some of the world’s leaders in delivering heritage and adaptive reuse projects for commercial success. With a collaborative spirit, they are looking to work with industry professionals based in China. Please find attached details of the architects who will be participating in the workshop.

Yes, Timothy and Lindy will both be on the Skype call at the same time. The current plan is for them both to use the same laptop for the call, so they will appear on your screen together. They will be calling from Leanne’s Skype account which is “Leanne.Tritton’.
Should anything change between now and Tuesday I am sure that Leanne will contact you. Once again her mobile number is +44 7747 104 435, she will also be able to pick up emails while she is in Shanghai.
I am still clarifying with the workshop organisers what materials/reports might be available after the workshop. However, I am sure that Timothy and Lindy will be able to give you a better idea of this on Tuesday, once they know the outcomes of the workshop.
So hopefully everything will run smoothly for the Skype call. I will not be travelling to Shanghai, but please do contact me if you are unable to reach Leanne.

Leanne has arranged for an architect and a Queensland Government representative to take part in the Skype call on Tuesday:
Timothy Hill will chair the part of the workshop that will address ‘Land: Urban Housing Hybrid towers’. Timothy is the Director of Donovan Hill architecture practice, see the PDF attached for a practice profile.
Lindy Johnson is the Director of Creative industries for the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) within the Queensland Government.
Timothy and Lindy should both be able to give you a good overview of the outcomes of the workshop and answer any of your questions.
So if you can confirm that you are still happy for this call to be at 10am on Tuesday 22 June then we can confirm this with Timothy and Lindy. Are you able to give me your Skype details for the call? I will need to confirm which Skype ID Leanne, Timothy and Lindy will use but will get back to you with details soon.
