Haha, Jay, I think we're just a vocal minority.  Do you mean it's not a $100 airport due to the extra effort of DCA?

In either case, the poll has been done and the people have spoken.  My bid to buy out the election results was facetious (although not without precedent in history of polls).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Jay was wanting to incorporate some sort of restricted airspace feature into the DCA airport when he did it in the future. Obviously, that would probably involve more work than just doing another airport as usual.

Sorry I was gone for I while. I have finals coming up that I have to study for, so I haven't had much time to check the forum or work on the website.

I am going to make a new poll, so does anyone have any suggestions on what the topic should be?

I like the idea of polls, as it gets a majority vote on the the ideas and features everyone has been voicing about over the years. 

However, with all due respect to you and Jay, I am a little hesitant to recommend any ideas for a new poll because I am not sure what's actually going to get done, or what is possible, nor do most of us have any realistic time frame in knowing when to expect it. In other words, if there were a poll for new features, but the majority vote was for a feature that was going to take excessively long or was not even feasible or possible, it would be a waste of our vote.

Perhaps it would be more advantageous for Jay to do the polls, as he would have control of what he is willing and capable in doing, as well as knowing a realistic time frame for completion. Perhaps he could even include the time frame of completion in the feature poll (example: "change departure runway, 1 month") However, I would hate to put the burden on the developer to make the polls, as things come up in people's lives, out of our control. And he's suffered enough of the addicted disgruntled simmers out there in the past. Just a thought.

Personally, I would love to see a realistic looking ground control, but I recognize that this would take a lot longer than some simpler addition or change to the existing simulator, as the ground control would be a whole new sim. So I'll be patient.

Since I realize that this is more of a feasible plan (at least long-term), I think it may be a good idea to let Jay manage the website. However, I don't want to put any extra work on his shoulders. It might be possible to make the website creation platform accessible to certain approved users and Jay himself to create polls.

Also, I will not have much time this summer, as I will be playing baseball every week for the first 6 weeks and then be at a no-technology-allowed sleep-away camp for another 2 weeks. Not to put anyone in the spotlight, but if any of you are willing to manage the website for the time I'm at camp, I can give you the login and give you access to create polls and manage the site.

This is not an attempt to give a sales pitch but  I’d  like to suggest something that may be of interest to your members. Since retiring from FAA I’ve had a “hobby” business where I give on-site seminars explaining fundamental ATC structures and procedures to companies and organizations that are involved in developing  or enhancing ATC related technologies.  For the last year I’ve also been giving occasional 90 minute webinars that are focused on controller operations at the four ATC facility types: (1) Airport Traffic Control Tower , (2) TRACON, (3) the enroute ARTCC, and (4) the ATC System Command Center that oversees  the Traffic Flow Management and the Collaborative Decision Making functions.  While these webinars are slightly oriented towards technical industry professionals, the discussions are decidedly and intentionally non-technical and are appropriate for anyone with an interest in ATC operations .

Only a couple of days remain in the current poll! If you are planning on voting, please go ahead and do so while you have the chance! Also, I would like to share some preliminary results with everybody. Many simmers are in favor of updating runways (e.g. runway extensions and closures), while quite a few others want to see new aircraft (A350s, 787s). If you think you have a good idea for ATC-SIM, go to the poll now and speak your mind!

Alright everybody,

The poll results are finally in! A whopping 39.4% of users voted for runway updates, which would mean closing old runways, building new ones, extending existing ones (you get the picture). Almost 30% voted for new aircraft/fleet updates (new aircraft orders and retirements).

Also, I will not be able to do any work on the site for the last 2 weeks of July. If anybody is interested in managing the site (even for just a couple of days), let me know and I will get you set up.

30% on new aircraft/fleet updates??? Sounds like a lot of people would rather have a airline/airport management sim than ATC-SIM.

For me, I could care less what type of aircraft is flying in my airspace, or whether or not certain airline mergers have been updated, or out-of-date flight numbers.

I agree!!!  Airline updates, runway changes, etc. have nothing to with control ability..  You take what comes at you and "get 'er done" safely, efficiently and expeditiously!!  Some new airports would be nice, but no one is saying much about that.  KMCI, KPIT, KJAX, ....???

Yes, we do appreciate what you have done. Yet, you have to agree with this - something is more noticeable when it's added, as opposed to taken away. Now that arrivals behave the way they should, that's great. But it's just not as noticeable as say, different colors for arrivals and departures, emergency arrivals, or altitude restrictions (hypothetically speaking of course). Now that would get you some compliments ;)
