Still waiting for Chuck, the Carolina Hurricanes fan, to make good on RDU. :-)
And, still have Stuttgart, Copenhagen, Bucharest, et al ... Plus I
need to upgrade Charlotte. Plus there are several in Central Florida
that have fans.
If my head's completely clear, and I'm into it, and I don't have to
update any nav data, and it's a US airport, then maybe 1 - 2 hours.
If it's a non-US airport and I have to download charts and nav data
from Eurocontrol or AIS Japan or the like, then it takes longer.
I have a somewhat automated process now to make the base airport, and
then I have to spend a long time tweaking it.
For example, and also to answer your question about overlays, I
enlarge the runways slightly to make it easier. That then means that
some navaids and fixes have to be adjusted slightly. So, overlays
would work in a city like Chicago, but for Honolulu it might be a
problem, as the "reef runway" would be too far into the water. Maybe.
I'm also working on a separate "ground control" sim, and am trying to
set up some kind of automated process for that as well.

Finally, a ground control sim over the web.
Agreeing with yos233...I like the sounds of a ground control sim.
Keep up the good work.
Ok, if you guys want KGRR ahead of schedule, here is what you must
do. This kid in Brazil keeps writing to me. Contact him, find out
what he wants for a username and password, sponsor him by registering
an account for him, and then I will make KGRR within 48 hours of that.
Here is his info, and what he keeps sending:

subject PAYPAL DONATION!
Hi ATC-SIM staff, I need if you can reconsider that, I`m from Brasil,
just have 14 years old and really wanna play your simulator..
It would be amazing play in SAO PAULO / GUARULHOS (GRU /SBGR).
There is no way to allow my account to play only in this airport?
I have no credit card, and no money, can we let my account free?
My father is comercial pilot, i`ll tell him about your website, and
beg an donation of 100$ to your website.
Thank`s Jay Link.
Erisson.

Yes -- whoever said "but I would gladly donate much more if KGRR was
added. Name your price Jay! ;-) " must contact this boy in Brazil,
find out what he wants for a username and password, and then pay for
his activation.
In exchange, I will deliver KGRR within 48 hours of that.
Or, just wait, as I'll get to KGRR eventually, but it's not a "top 5"
in the queue.
Mostly, I just care about the donations. hahaha
Ok, reddawg14, you will see KGRR within 48 hours!!
And now that I have become yet another business masquerading as a
charity, ala most zoos, museums, and blood banks, I feel so icky ...
But, not so icky that I wouldn't solicit more sponsorships! ;-)
Please let me know if you see any mistakes, or if any fixes, et al,
need to be added / removed / repositioned.
Whew!! This was a hard one. Since it has no published STARs, I could
not use my new system. So, instead, I used the following off-screen
entry points:
BRONZ
ALPHE
LESSY
LAN
MKG
PMM
Also, could not add HAPIG because of FATOG and SARAN being in the way.
Enjoy!
Before you star Bucharest we have to talk,
we don't see so many points on our radar
Ok, I actually moved SARAN down a little so it wouldn't overlap FATOG.
Do you think I should just remove FATOG?
> JAKES the same - up a little
Hmm ... this one was unaltered, and if the runways were not enlarged
it would be even more off. But, I see what you mean on the chart.
Let me think about this one.
Say!! JeppView! I don't suppose you could upload the apron and gates
chart for KBWI, could you? That would help for Ground Control.

Well, the KCLT remake is next, but as you know you are definitely in
the top 5 now that I have ignored you for so long. :-)
I was thinking Charlotte, Stuttgart, Copenhagen, and then you. BUT,
if you were to load KBWI for me, I could rethink my priorities. :-)
Thanks for the help!
- Jay
Wow! Thanks! Ok, I'm still finishing Charlotte since it's already
started, but then Bucharest is next. I will let you review it before
it's released.
- Jay
Thanks to your generosity in sponsoring our friend in Brazil, the
ATC-SIM Miracle Network was able to accommodate your needs.
KGRR would not be possible but for the kindness that you have shown.
Yes, for only the price of a cup of coffee a day (for two months) (or
really expensive name-brand Seattle-based coffee for five days), you
can sponsor a membership that lasts a lifetime and make your air
navigation dreams come true.
Ok, let's let reddawg14 be the judge on this one, since it's his
airport. Marius is right; SARAN is a little too low. Problem is,
SARAN and HAPIG are about in the same place, and FATOG is there, too.
reddawg, how would you like it to be?
p.s. Is it just me, or does FATOG sound like "fat hog", and then we
also have HAPIG? Is there a WalMart right under those points, or
something? haha
Does that mean you are working on a Ground Control Sim right now? How
soon might we see that? What airports? Any thumbnails/snapshots to
tease and wet our appetite?

1. Yes
2. I just don't want to release something that sucks, even as a demo.
As the saying goes, "You never get a second chance to make a first
impression."
3. I am thinking KBWI and KLAX will be first -- KBWI because it's
local for Mr. "Former Controller" and KLAX because it's got a lot of
taxiways and will fill a widescreen monitor nicely.
I'll use those for "shakedown" and then will see how automated I can
make the process for adding more.
We can also use Ground Control for experimentation in making ATC-SIM better.
I think the only thing that should be fixed is moving SARAN a little
up. If FATOG and SARAN just can't be squeezed together, eliminate
FATOG and just stick with SARAN.

One thing that I have noticed at KGRR is that there haven't been any
departures on runway 8L-26R. I realize this is the smallest runway,
5000ft, but shouldn't some small planes like pipers and cessnas be
departing on this runway? It is obviously parallel to the major
runway so if departures can go off that, then there should be some on
the other. Just a thought. :-)
