I am planning to become an air traffic controller, so i wanted to ask
if this is a real life simulation? Is it valid for me to prepare for
my future job, or not? If not, is there some other similar
simulations? Hope someone can answer. Tnx

I’m a former FAA air traffic controller and while this simulation is great fun and gives you a good sense of the role of the TRACON,  I wouldn’t use it as any kind of preparation for becoming a controller.  With this game about the closest you can get to an actual situation would be to run an  arrivals only game in which you sequence every aircraft to a single runway using only headings, altitude, and speed control to achieve minimum in-trail separation over the runway threshold.    However, even that is just a high level peek at  controlling traffic.   There used to be a game called TRACON by Bob Wesson that was pretty good, but I don’t know if it’s even available anymore.  Sorry.

I'm a retired Air Traffic Controller and I enjoy playing this game, but it's only a game.  There is considerably more involved than what's here, although I think it's close.   There are basically 3 types of Air Traffic Controllers, since you're considering this as a career, (and I would highly recommend it.)  En route Controllers, Terminal Radar Controllers (that's what this game typifies, somewhat) and Control Tower operators.  If you like Terminal Radar Control you might want to check out this site.  I have their game and if you're willing to fork over a few bucks, you can get a better feel for reality with it.  Check it out here:  http://www.atcsimulator.com/
