Thank you, Master Murphy, for your update email.  Here is my 2 cents worth:

1. Mini-tournaments: Are we just sticking with the top 5, or, like this past cycle, are we awarding tournaments to anyone who supported past minis but are not listed in the top 5.  I see Ms. Clark's name missing, for example.

As for hosting one, we will choose the Fall (Sept/Oct) of 2016 to host ours.  So based on a 5 tournament cycle, here are the next 5 opportunities:

Summer (May-Aug) 2015
Fall (Sept-Dec) 2015
Spring (Jan-April) 2016
Summer (May-Aug) 2016
Fall (Sept-Dec) 2016 - Rieselbach

The next pick is Master Murphy's.

2. As to the upcoming workouts, we will support as we can.  You have us as possibly hosting in August, but we will have to let you know as we are at the mercy of the Rec Dept's schedule.  Are there specific things, i.e. equipment, that we would need to host?

3. Sounds interesting.

4. Thank you for your words on respect, etc. in our state.  I feel that WI is becoming separated, and that we no longer have a harmonious group of Instructors.  I hope we can get back to being a united group in the future, however, situations are occuring that may not allow that to happen.  I hope that future minis and state workouts can help that.  Mr. R and I will continue to support everyone in their endeavors as we can, despite what some of you may have heard.  I look forward to seeing everyone at an upcoming workout or the summer mini.

Subject: Udates

Hello Everyone,
I want to personally thank everyone that supported today's mini-tournament. An I hope all of you and your students had fun if you attended.

We covered several topics during our meeting for those of you that were not in attendance I will do my utmost best to bring you up to speed. Anyone else that was there please fill in the blanks if left off something or if a subject is not stated directly.

Subjects:

1. The mini-tournament series
1st Place The Rieselbach's
2nd Place Master Murphy
3rd Place Mr. Glenn
4th Place Ms. Gottlieb
5th Place Mr. Packard
The individuals listed above in that order will pick the season for the next mini. And set dates in a timely manner. The goal is to have all events dates set and in place so that everyone has enough time to plan and actively support them.

Additionally it was discussed and agreed to by the majority present that all future mini-tournament competition start no earlier than 11 am.
All future mini-tournament will include creative competition for both form and weapons. Competitors must compete in traditional form or Traditional to compete in the creative. to insure that this rule is followed. It was vote on and agree to by a majority present that the creative competition will be done after traditional competition. ATA-Xtreme will not be allowed due safety reason. So now the events for mini-tournaments will be : Traditional form, Traditional Weapons form, Sparring, Combat Weapons and Board Breaking.

2. High Rank Workouts
The goal is to have a monthly revolving workout rotating to the various schools and club. The workout will be free to all attendees. It was voted on agreed to by a majority present that these workout will start at 1 pm. They will all be approximately 3 hours long. The length of time is subject to change based on attendance.

My 2 cents. I have discussed this openly with several higher ranks than me and they all think it a great ideas. However they also felt that it should be a fee for it. I think that it is fine to get and give sometime that only cost you time and should be time well spent. Other feedback that I got was that even though you may workout on your own unless you are seeing your instructor on a regular basis it is very beneficial to come together, workout, share knowledge, to be critiqued and helped with your own techniques by other high ranks.

I will host the first of these next month. (May) I currently have 2 dates May 9th. Or May 15th, May 15th, is also the same weekend as regional certification camp. I will do the workout with 1 or 100 plus.

Mr Rick Glenn , has Agreed to host June date pending, Mr.David Packard  July date pending, August still waiting confirmation by the Rieselbach, Mr. Moh,Mr. Alison, iMs.Gottlieb,Ms,Clark, Girton"s, Sabree"s, Mr.Petitis, Mr. Klien and Mr.Piekarski chime in and pick a month to host.

3. Seminars: Our Special invited  guest: Retire Police officer, 9th Degree  Black Belt, Highest ranking instructor in the United States for Doce Pere' Escrima system, Internationally Recognize Developer and instructor of the Hardened Target System. Grandmaster  Tom Sippins. I invited him. I have attended and been doing to clinic and workshop. I have also certified in the Hardened target system. I like a lot of the aspects of it. There is a lot of hand gun, Knife, stick, Kubaton (blunt weapon) and Empty hands involved. I saw it as opportunity to sharpen sme of the many skill sets we already have in a less chaotic fashion. I think it's a great teen and adult program but not juniors. I will like to see if any of you would be interested in attending, or hosting a seminar. I will tell you this the shortest one is 2 hours, only a break for water if you ask. Other vary in length full day, weekend and so on. The Certification one is actually 2 weeks but you can go at varying times. It is real intense training. If you have taken ATA Knife, Stick,or Sword and felt they were a hard workout then time 3 this program.

4. Professionalism: The parameter of respect. This is not a topic that we  address this is just my 2 cents again. The way we talk to each other in the presents of our juniors is to me a big deal. The things we say and how we say them is also a big deal. I challenge any one of you to point out even a single instance where I was inappropriate in words or actions at any ATA event. To take that a step farther anytime that I was less that respectful to you in tone or action. Even in a heated moment where we may have disagreed at any event . I take pride in what I do. I believe in what we do. In spite of any issues that we have had. I will still support you. I have been an active member of the ATA since 1975. I stayed because I loved the way we all use to work together to help each other reach our goals in life and the martial arts. When I am offering to do things I am not thinking about myself, I am thinking about us. I am not going to look and smile in your  face and then stab you in the back. I see us a family and I have learned the hard way that families don't always agree on everything. I see a lot of you put your pride ahead of everything. Money before everything and some of you can be so petty. I still believe in the power of us. You can be a me, me, me person or I, I, I person. I really hope that you take a hard look and see that we is a lot  stronger choice. Be careful what you say and how you say it in an open forum. An remember that no matter how awesome you are, not a single one of us got where we are without help.

Sincerely
Master Eddie L Murphy

to Wisconsin Schools

As to the mini-tournament Mr. Glenn, the R's have already pick the fall tournament. I was really hoping someone not in Milwaukee would take on hosting the Summer one but we can deal with that later.

Information updates Judging: I am not sure how many of you were aware of this but my best guest is only one. None of us have the authority to certify even level one judges in schools. We can and should still do all the training for each level, however everyone for all levels must attend a regionally or nationally approved workshop. I was informed today that Master Plessel is our only representative for all levels in Wisconsin. I was under the impression that Master Struck could still sign off on the level 3. Sadly that is not the case. Although I did forward the information to the Regional Chief of tournaments it was rejected. So again I am sorry for that as well.

The work outs: Good to hear from Mr. Moh, Master Plessel, The Sabrees  and Mr. Klien on their willingness to host. The primary goal for the workshops to begin is the big 3, form, sparring, Board Breaking. However included in that is Weapons forms. Special goals review of our teaching skills concepts and misconceptions. The ultimate goal is to help us all get better, stronger, faster. We all go to Nationals, Worlds, Regional Clinic and Workshops. Some of us don't have the budget for that and tend get only the most limited information. This is to also  help fill in the blanks for those that don't or can't go to everything. But the biggest goal is to get us working out where we get feedback on what we are doing right or wrong on a fairly consistence basis. If its right we drill it, if its wrong we fix it and drill it.

Host Duties Provide a location in which to train. Allow the use of any equipment you may have for the purpose of that training.
Attendees Responsibilities treat the host home better than your home. Train with a sense of purpose accept that you do not have to challenge every technique or tidbit of information.

The Best example I can give to that is this: During a seminar at HQ, Then CM Soon Ho Lee, was drilling everyone on how he wanted to see a side kick done. In demonstration it looked more like a round kick, but done with the side of the foot. Even Eternal Grand Masters son Taekwon Lee was caught off guard by it. During a break Then Master Rick Abair commented to a small group of us" well as I see that is just another way to do it.So if I am testing in from of him that is the way I am going to do. Any other time I am going to do it the GM H.U. Lee said."

If you you have pads bags and boards fine, if not we have ways of making you sweat. Targeting

Thank You all Again May you continue to be as Awesome as you want to be. KNOW NO LIMITS!!

Sincerely
Master Murphy
