need help in creating a virtual image

I have 3 drives currently running on my mac :

             1. Leopard ( the one in which mac resides)
             2. Test
             3. Data.


            Now, i need to make a virtual image (i.e virtual disk) of a partition (say "Test") in mac os x using xcode.  Here is the catch, i need to make a virtual disk of a partition using IOKit framework as i want to create a driver which on loading creates a virtual image of a partition. Can you please please please PLEASE point me to the right direction and tell me any relevant API`s through which i can accomplish this task. Please guys i need your help on this . Remember i need to create an IOKit driver. Hope you guys will solve my problem :) (keeping my fingers crossed).
