Call for Papers
8th IEEE Workshop on Intelligent Solutions
in Embedded Systems (WISES2010)
Heraklion, Crete, Greece, July 8-9, 2010

WISES2010 is a platform for presentation of innovative approaches
that provide intelligent solutions in embedded systems. The
objective of this workshop is to present mature approaches and to
provide a forum for the exchange and discussion of ideas, and for
sharing experiences among researchers, practitioners, and
application developers from industry and academia. Original
papers addressing theoretical and practical aspects of embedded
systems are solicited. Papers describing prototype
implementations and deployments of embedded systems are
particularly welcome. In order to provide young researchers a
forum to exchange ideas, WISES2010 will include a special session
for PhD students.

Embedded Systems Architecture
- Multicore SoC (e.g. homogeneous, heterogeneous MPSoC)?
- Memory systems and optimization in embedded systems
- On-chip buses and point-to-point networks
- Application-specific (e.g. ASIPs, hardware accelerators)
- Architectures and tools for reconfigurable computing

Software for single or multi-core embedded systems
- Applications and systems software (e.g. drivers, communication
libraries)
- Real-time operating systems and middleware in embedded systems

Prototype platforms, applications and case studies
- Next generation networking and mobile/wireless technology
- Sensor networks and related hardware/software platforms
- Embedded systems with ambient intelligence and pervasiveness

Tools and methodologies for analysis, exploration and validation
- Cost-efficient and power-aware embedded system design
- Fault tolerance, reliability and security in embedded systems
- Real-time embedded systems
- Debugging and profiling techniques and tools

Special Sessions:
- Embedded systems for multimedia and signal processing
- Embedded systems for aerospace and automotive industry
- PhD students session

Other special sessions can be proposed to the General Chairs.

PAPER SUBMISSION

The working language of the workshop is English. Prospective
authors are invited to submit new original research papers of a
maximum length of 6 pages (two column, 10pt, IEEE conference
style) for blind review.Papers must be submitted in PDF format
(along with separate title, authors, affiliation and email
information) according to instructions available in the WISES2010
website.

REVIEW PROCESS AND WORKSHOP PROCEEDINGS

All papers will be evaluated by at least 3 members of the program
committee in a blind review process based on relevance, technical
merit, innovation and presentation. Each accepted paper must be
presented by one of the authors who must register for the
workshop. All camera-ready papers will be published in printed
proceedings distributed at the workshop. Camera-ready papers with
a compatible PDF format will also appear in the IEEE Digital
Library soon after the workshop; a link to IEEE's PDFexpress tool
for PDF compatibility testing will be made available to the
authors through the WISES2010 website in due time.

IMPORTANT DEADLINES

Proposals for special sessions: 12 February, 2010
Manuscript submission: 12 March, 2010
Notification of acceptance: 23 April, 2010
Submission of camera-ready paper: 14 May, 2010
