I am scheduled for the Service and Support test on Friday the 12th.
What I am wondering is how much the test tools have changed vs. the
book I'm using to study by (CNE Stude Guide for Core Tech by D. Clarke,
circa 1997). My reference book only talks about NSEPro, MTL, and
NetWire. I use the NSC at work and I gather, thru reading exam feedback
at www.cramsession.com , that NSEPro is no longer part of the 801 (50-
626) version of the test.

Any input on this would be most appreciated!

Thanks,
David.

Take this exam asap because novell is phasing this series out. The next
series will have 75 questions instead of 15 .. I just took the exam
050-626 last week.. I got two support source questions. Good luck..
Remember the cutoff date for exam 050-626 is 11/23/99

George,

I'm WELL aware of the upcoming deadline for this test (and others).

Am I to judge by your mention of Support Source that there is some new
tools that I'll have to know? I am wondering what which of these I'll be
tested on:

1. MTL (Microhouse Technical Library)
2. NSC (Novell Support Connection)
3. NSEPro
4. NetWire (on Compuserve)
5. WinCim

If anyone can answer this I'd appreciate it!

TIA,
David.

I just took the test two weeks ago (passed :) ) and was also asked two
support connection questions. 16 questions total and out of the 14
non-tools questions, probably 9 of them were direct questions from
CNEquizzr. If you've reviewed those questions, you'll do fine. But you'll
probably do fine anyway.

NSC is the new name of NSEPro. So if you know how to use NSEPro, you'll
know everything about NSC ;-)

One thing I forgot to ask is can I use NSC or Support Source to assist
with answering the questions? I had heard that this test was "open
book" in this sense. Obviously I can use them when a question wants me
to work with NSC or Support Source. What I'd like to know is can I use
those tools for the entire test?

TIA,

David.

IIRC the test only has NSC and Support Source available for the questions
specifically regarding them.

where are you guys taking the test...I am trying to find a place to take
50-626 and no one will offer it even though it is supposed to be still
available until the 23rd....Novell Education basically told me tough luck!

Thru IKON Office Solutions in McLean-VA (Sylvan Prometric). When I
called to schedule they put me on hold to see if they still offered that
test version.

I passed 50-626 Monday morning. I received no Support Source questions
and surprisingly NO printer questions. I had about 9 questions of 14
that were word-for-word to CNEQuizer 4.5 (best $23 I've spent). I did
have one Support Connection question (lookup of a specific server set
parm).

David.
