I've been happily using ASynk for a while now to sync my .bbdb file and
my gmail contacts. Recently, synchronization fails with:

pimdb_bb.BBDBFileFormatError: Cannot proceed with processing file "/home/wilk/.bbdb"

Here is an example of a line throwing an error (I anonymized some parts)

["John" "Doe" nil nil nil (["" number ]) nil ("na...@gmail.com") ((bbdb-id . "e03763cc-5e88-11e3-a859-0230616d2736") (creation-date . "2013-12-06 14:33:49 +0000") (timestamp . "2013-12-20 17:56:49 +0000") (folder . "asynk") (asynk:bbgcsynk:gc . "https://www.google.com/m8/feeds/contacts/j.cubizolles%40gmail.com/full/6f27bac80ab1d989") (mail-alias . "eleves-13-14")) nil]

Of course, bbdb doesn't have any problem with this .bbdb file. What do
you think is going wrong ?

Julien.

What version of BBDB are you using?

I tried to load that in BBDBv3 (file format v7) and I got the following error in Emacs:

Formatting BBDB...
Not a valid phone number: number

I should have put a bogus number instead of "number" when I anonymized
it. You can try this the following

["John" "Doe" nil nil nil (["" 0 0 0 666666666]) nil ("na...@gmail.com") ((bbdb-id . "e03763cc-5e88-11e3-a859-0230616d2736") (creation-date . "2013-12-06 14:33:49 +0000") (timestamp . "2013-12-20 17:56:49 +0000") (folder . "asynk") (asynk:bbgcsynk:gc . " https://www.google.com/m8/feeds/contacts/j.cubizolles%40gmail.com/full/6f27bac80ab1d989") (mail-alias . "eleves-13-14")) nil]

Ok. I will take a look. Was this entry synching properly with an earlier version of ASynK?

That entry loads fine in BBDB; it is also parsed properly by ASynK. Are you sure the problem is with the above entry?

Also what version of ASynK are you using? (python asynk.py --version)

I think it used to do. Sorry for the late reply.

Actually, I'm getting an error on another one now:

["John" "Doe" nil nil nil (["Mobile" "+33 6 00 00 00 00"] ["" 0 0 0 627350686.0]) nil ("joh...@hotmail.fr") ((bbdb-id . I was running v1.0.0, I just upgraded to v2.0.0-rc2+ and the problem
remains.

Could you try the latest from the branch bbdb-phones to see if this entry passes?
