A bit of theory: reWASD emulates the Xbox 360 controller, and that takes the functionality to the new level. You can assign Toggle, Turbo to controller button actions, and create controller button key combos. As a result, the game will recognize the controller input, except it will be not a physical gamepad, but the one an Xbox controller emulator created.

This one takes a bit more time to create. Take your time and reassign the keys one by one, to make the perfect layout. To make this process easier, pay attention to the icons near reWASD mapping list: unclick keyboard and mouse to leave controller binds only, this will make the process quicker.

Xbox 360 Controller Emulator is a program that allows you to emulate an Xbox 360 controller when playing any PC game. Some older games are only compatible with the Xbox 360 controller, so you need that controller in order to play. However, with Xbox 360 Controller Emulator, you can use more recent controllers, including the PlayStation DualShock or DualSense controllers.

In fact, not only can you use controllers, but you can also use steering wheels, joysticks, and pedals to play games. For example, thanks to this emulator, you can play games like Grand Theft Auto with a steering wheel.

With Xbox 360 Controller Emulator, you can customize up to four different controllers at the same time. Thanks to this, you can configure other controls as well as a steering wheel. To switch between them, just mark the one you want as active. You can also assign profiles that you've already configured to each game.

The controller configuration options are very detailed. In addition to mapping buttons to whatever actions you want, you can adjust the dead zone, joystick sensitivity, vibration, and many other settings. If you have several computers, you can upload your settings to the cloud and keep them synced, in which case you can access them from anywhere.

Hello. I use DualShock 4 and it works badly, in every game the system is emulating XBOX controller, even if the game supports DualShock4 (I check it on Windows). It is not convenient when you played for 4 years on DualShock and you need to re-learn the location of the buttons. And also some buttons stopped working correctly or do not work at all.
It is strange, but Steam Big Picture recognizes it as DualShock, but even there is no PS icons: square, triangle, circle and cross. Instead of them just a black spot.
How can I do so that the system and games do not emulate xbox, and normally perceived DualShock?

You are experiencing this because of Steam's controller settings. You can easily toggle off the support if you don't want it to be wrapped in Steam's "Steam input" that outputs as an xbox-style controller. HOWEVER, If you are just worried about GUI buttons icons.. sorry but even if you change it, most games don't have PS4 button UI options. Just going to be upfront about that.

If you want to shut off "steam input" for everything ( although I do not recommended this because some games lack native ps4 controller support), the option is in (Steam) Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > then uncheck the box for ps4 controllers.

Also, I have already stated what you were experiencing was Steam Input. All this information is already easily searchable via the arch wiki and steam forums.
From Gamepad - ArchWiki "PlayStation 3/4 controller

For example Witcher 3 (from Steam), Detroid become human, death stranding and other games worked on windows 10 with normal PS icons and button bindings. It is very strange that they all work as on xbox, from this I conclude that the system forcibly emulates xbox.

Now, if your games from steam are having issues displaying PS icons that they normally should be doing just fine; then the game most likely has native playstation controller support. Turn off the Steam Input per that game as I have listed above and it should work fine. Other games have Playstation button icon display in the game options (though rarely).
If somehow none of this works but it should be showing PS buttons as the game does support displaying it, try and see if force running the game with Proton-GE support fixes it as regular Proton sometimes has issues with devices. Toggling between Proton or Proton-GE per game is good practice in general as it can be a better gamepad experience with one Proton over the other depending on the game.

Detroit Become Human should show PS icons if the gamepad is plugged in (not wireless) to a USB and Steam Input per that game is shut off ( source: PS4 controller :: Detroit: Become Human General Discussions )

Witcher 3 can have issues displaying PS icons. Yet again the controller has to be wired via USB for it to work right (and have steam input off yet again per game of course). If there is an issue still with it, a work around was posted a few years ago here on post #9 might help: PS4 Controller Button Prompts in Witcher 3 :: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt General Discussions

Hi. I solved the problem. Before that, I ran games through steam and lutris, today I tried to launch games through PortProton and everything works fine, the games understand that this is Dualshok and the buttons work fine, thanks for the help.

Hi all, as the title says, the xinput Xbox 360 controller emulator stopped working in Unreal 5.4.2, but works perfectly fine in Unreal 5.3.2. I need the emulator to make my Logitech Rumblepad 2 controller work. I have no idea what changed in the Engine to cause this. Thanks for any advice!

I finally solved it by using the newer 4.17.15.0 version of TocaEdit Xbox 360 Controller Emulator. This version must be launched separately and runs in the background while the Unreal Editor is running, so you no longer need to paste any files into the C:\Program Files\Epic Games\UE_5.4\Engine\Binaries\Win64 directory.

It seems that something in Unreal 5.4.2 completely broke the ability for the older x360ce emulator to work, because Unreal 5.3.2 works perfectly fine with the older emulator, as described here.

vJoy provides an SDK and driver to simulate input devices. You can have joysticks, gamepads etc..PyvJoy allows you to access these drivers and simulate the input inside python. uses values between 0 and 32767 for the "analog" sticks. For example, to get the left thumb-stick of an xbox controller in a neutral position you put the XAxis and YAxis in 1/2 of 32767.

The final part is using X360CE, what is does is turn the vJoy "DigitalInput" Devide into a XInput device. So the PC/game thinks its an actual Xbox 360 or Xbox One Controller. This last part is only needed for some games that only allow official Xbox controllers, like GTA 5.You can get X360CE from here:

All this combined allows me to play those games through python. I learned that using WASD to train a neural network doesnt work too well because it always acts to extreme because it only allows 1 or 0 for the button presses. With these controls you can get smoother game controls.

I'd like to play some Tie Fighter 95, which won't start without a joystick, even though I'd never actually need the actual joystick (keyboard and mouse provide sufficient input). I used to use NTPAD in an old Windows setup to provide a fake joystick; now I'd like to do the same in Linux.

Antimicro (mentioned in other answer) looks promising, but personally I have achieved decent results with xboxdrv (haven't found a way to get analog sticks to work, but everything else works great). The following example configuration will map various keyboard buttons to Xbox controller button set (assuming /dev/input/event0 corresponds to keyboard on your machine):

So I plug in my Xbox Controller, load up DeSmuME, click Config > Control Config, but when I move a stick or press a button on the xbox controller, nothing happens, it acts like there is no button input. All other emulators and games work just fine with the controller, so it's likely not something with the controller or drivers.

The odd thing was, it worked fine with 0.9.8, but due to issues I was having involving save paths and whatnot, I ended up deleting it entirely. I then redownloaded both 0.9.8 AND 0.9.9 and neither of them worked with the controller. I've tried different USB ports as well.
