Hey, its quite painfull but i used google translator for the parts that i needed, as soon as

you get the basics going you can skip the chinese and look only at the code (is in english) and 

the graphics.

Btw the testbed example source code is also very usefull to learn.

You can also decompile swf applications that use aswing for learning purposes, very usefull too.
