Saturdays heat races have been canceled and the first 17 spots of the starting lineup will be determined by the NASCAR rule book. Penske Racing's Joey Logano won the pole after his team won Saturday's Pit Crew Challenge.

Two drivers earned the transfer spot from the All-Star Open to make the final field for the All-Star Race. The final spot was determined by a fan vote going to the driver with the most votes who had not raced his way into the field.

Michael O'Connell injured his hamstring in the first half of the loss and Zach Edey showed why he's the national player of the year with another dominant performance for Purdue. Raleigh native DJ Horne scored 20 points in his final game for the Wolfpack

The Wolfpack didn't have any surprises in its starting lineup against Purdue, sticking with the group that powered NC State to this point in the season. DJ Horne, Michael O'Connell, Casey Morsell, Mo Diarra and DJ Burns Jr. will start against the Boilermakers.

NC State vs. Purdue will be televised on TBS, with Ian Eagle, Bill Raftery, Grant Hill and Tracy Wolfson on the call at State Farm Stadium. Gene Steratore will be prepared to field questions as rules analyst. Gary Hahn and Tony Haynes will lead radio coverage on the Wolfpack Sports Network. Streaming options for the game include Sling TV.

The starting five will consist of Jahvon Quinerly, David Jones, Nicholas Jourdain, Nae'Qwan Tomlin and Malcolm Dandridge, Dave Woloshin said on the pregame radio broadcast. Jones has started every game this season. Quinerly has started all but one, while Jourdain has 19 starts, Dandridge has 18 and Tomlin has five.

Memphis (18-8, 7-6 AAC) will also be shorthanded against Charlotte (17-8, 11-2). Neither Jayden Hardaway, Jayhlon Young nor Jordan Brown are expected to be available against the 49ers due to various injuries. Young has missed three of the last four games with an ankle injury. He played only one minute of last week's 106-79 loss at SMU.

Following last week's loss to SMU, Hardaway said he gave more minutes to "players that had a care factor." He referenced true freshman guard Carl Cherenfant and walk-on point guard Joe Cooper (who made his Memphis debut against SMU) as "guys (who) just want to go out there and just work hard. That's the Memphis way."

On Friday night, Florida rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat Virginia 6-5, winning the game on a sac fly by designated hitter Luke Heyman after solo home runs from Ty Evans and Wyatt Langford.

A whacky inning put Florida in trouble as Oral Roberts loaded the bases with two outs. Florida's Kevin O'Sullivan made a trip out to the mound, but UF was out of free visits, meaning the Gators had to make a pitching change and remove their ace closer Brandon Neely.

Ty Evans, after finishing 2 for 2 with a double and a home run in UF's opening College World Series win over Virginia, is in the starting lineup today vs. Oral Roberts. Florida lineup: Kurland 2B, Langford CF. Caglianone 1B, Rivera SS, Riopelle C, Heyman DH, Shelnut LF, Evans RF, Halter 3B.

The weekend will also include a Pit Crew Challenge that will determine the starting lineups for the All-Star Heat races as well as the All-Star Open. The drivers already locked into the All-Star Race field will be split into two 60-lap heat races to determine the starting lineup for the All-Star Race.

All four full-time Hendrick Motorsports drivers -- Alex Bowman, William Byron, Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson -- have qualified for the All-Star Race. With Berry filling in for Bowman, the No. 48 Ally Racing team will be in the All-Star Open and Berry will need to finish in the top-two positions to transfer to the main event.

Pit Crew Challenge presented by Mechanix Wear (5:45 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio-Channel 90): All pit crews will complete a four-tire pit stop (taking no fuel). The results of the pit stop time only will determine the starting lineups for both the All-Star Heat Races and All-Star Open.

All-Star Heat Races (7:20 p.m. ET and approximately 8:15 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio-Channel 90): Two 60-lap heat races will determine the starting lineup for the All-Star Race. The results of the first heat will set the inside row for the All-Star Race, while the results of the second heat will set the outside row for the All-Star Race. Teams will start on sticker tires and have one additional set in the pits. All laps will count.

All-Star Open (5:30 p.m. ET, FS1, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio-Channel 90): 100 laps with a competition break around lap 40. Teams will start on sticker tires and have one additional set in the pits. All laps will count. The top two finishers and the Fan Vote winner transfer to the main event.

All-Star Race (8 p.m. ET, FS1, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio-Channel 90): 200 laps with a competition break on or around lap 100. Each team will begin the race on sticker tires and have three additional sets to use. Following the competition break, only one additional set of sticker tires can be used.

The technical rules for the cars will be the same as other Cup Series short track rules. Hendrick Motorsports has won three of the races to date where that package has been used: Byron at Phoenix Raceway and Larson at Richmond Raceway and Martinsville Speedway.

The All-Star Race will mark the first Cup Series action at the .625-mile track since 1996. North Wilkesboro hosted 93 NASCAR Cup Series races from 1949 to 1996 with Hendrick Motorsports' sweep of the final season of points-paying races among its four wins at the facility. Jeff Gordon won the last NASCAR Cup Series race to date there on Sept. 29, 1996. Terry Labonte won the spring races in 1994 and 1996 and Geoff Bodine won the fall race in 1989.

North Wilkesboro will be the fifth venue to host the annual all-star event. Charlotte Motor Speedway hosted the first such event in 1985 before Atlanta Motor Speedway served as the host in 1986. The race moved back to Charlotte from 1987 to 2019. Bristol Motor Speedway served as the host in 2020 and Texas Motor Speedway was the site from 2021 to 2022.

A.J. Pollock's anxiety levels had been steadily rising the past few days. After hurting his neck during a swing Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers' Josh Beckett, Pollock had played in just one game since the injury.

"I've been kind of itching the last couple games to get in there," Pollock said. "I was ready to (Thursday) I think, but the extra day with the flight (home from Chicago), I just kind of wanted to come in today and make sure everything was good. And it is."

When the injury occurred in the third inning against the Dodgers, Pollock initially thought it was minor and would be more of an inconvenience than a long-term issue. But when the tightness on the left side of his neck didn't subside, he was forced to leave the game in the sixth inning and had only appeared once as a pinch runner since.

"It just got worse and worse to the point where I was having trouble picking my head up in the field. I think a couple guys had it before, and said it's between four and five days. For me, it's four right now."

Phillies catcher Wil Nieves was at Chase Field on Friday for the first time since signing with Philadelphia in December. Nieves spent parts of the past two seasons with the Diamondbacks, though the team chose not to re-sign him after last year.

"It's a little weird being on the other side," Nieves said before Friday's game. "But it's good to see my old teammates. I love playing in this ballpark. It's one of my favorites, if not my favorite ballpark.

Shortstop Chris Owings was out of the starting lineup for the second consecutive game Friday, though manager Kirk Gibson said Owings is fine and he simply wanted to give Cliff Pennington back-to-back starts. Gibson said Owings would start Saturday.

Starting pitcher Randy Wolf threw six innings for Triple-A Reno on Thursday, allowing just one run on five hits. Wolf, who signed with the Diamondbacks on April 11, is now 2-1 with a 3.71 ERA in three starts for Reno.
