When I transferred my data yesterday, the avatar items I unlocked by playing games like Halo: Reach and the ones I downloaded from the Marketplace as part of a pre-order bonus did not get transferred over and were corrupted when I tried to access them on my HDD after the transfer. I am pretty sure I can re-download the ones I got as a pre-order bonus, but how can I recover the ones I unlocked from games?
Re-download your Xbox Live account. To do this, sign in and select the "Download profile" tab. After you sign-in, go to the avatar editor and head to "Awards" gradually go through each game and apply/equip each item. If the selected item is not present or is damaged, the avatar editor will ask you to re-download them. For purchased items, go to:
There, you will find a full list of your downloaded items. You can also get your avatar awards just by deleting the corrupt ones and inserting the game disk that they came from while signed-in. The game will detect that you have unlocked them, and save them to the HDD. Avatar award bins are stored in the game they are unlocked from. It's not the best or fastest option, but will suffice if you don't have an internet connection.
Today, we are excited to announce that in addition to digital games, Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, we have expanded digital gifting to include apps and avatar items sold in the Microsoft Store.
Xbox Avatars are avatars and characters that represent users of the Xbox network service on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and Series S video game consoles, Windows 10, and Windows 10 Mobile.[1] Avatars originally debuted on the Xbox 360 as part of the "New Xbox Experience" system update released on November 19, 2008, updated on Xbox One with "New Xbox One Experience" Xbox One System Software on November 12, 2015,[2] and reimagined with the release of the next generation character for Xbox One on October 11, 2018.[3]
As of the 1811 release, the Xbox Avatar Editor's built-in Closet includes 566 items enabling 142.67 x 10^33 different characters for customers creating an Avatar, which does not take color changing options into account. There is also an Xbox Avatar Store that allows customers to browse and try on new items as they are released to the public.[7]
Users can edit their current avatar using the Xbox Original Avatars application on an Xbox console, Windows 10 or Windows 10 Mobile device[12] or by using the Microsoft Silverlight based editor on Xbox.com. Across all of these experiences, users will have access to their entire closet of items that they've purchased or have been awarded throughout the Xbox ecosystem.
The Avatar Store was launched as "Avatar Marketplace" on August 11, 2009, allowing users to buy clothes and props using their Xbox Live account.[17] Users are able to buy branded clothing, such as Adidas, for their Avatar, as well as game-related clothing, such as costumes from Monkey Island, BioShock 2, Battleblock Theater, Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Halo, Splinter Cell Conviction and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. A player can also update their Avatar's wardrobe by achieving certain goals and unlocking different clothing. New clothes and items are added to the Avatar Marketplace every Thursday.
Some games allow players to unlock clothing for their avatars by meeting certain conditions such as unlocking the required achievement.Games that currently award Avatar Awards are listed below. This feature is discontinued from Xbox One since the avatars on Xbox One does not support Avatar Awards anymore as of June 1, 2016.
* = The game has avatar awards which are linked to certain achievements in another game. (e.g. All the awards in Halo Waypoint needs certain achievements unlocked in Halo: Reach, except for the Halo: Reach Beta shirt which is no longer obtainable.)
Avatars are a collection of data, less than 1 kB,[22] describing character details such as clothing and facial features, propagated to Xbox.com. These avatars can be as personalized as the player wants them to be, detailing all the way down to the size. However, players can also create an avatar that does not represent them at all. Like a roaming user profile the Avatar will follow the player wherever he or she logs on. This makes the avatar the actual player in the virtual world.
Imagine if you could level up your avatar by unlocking achievements, and each level unlocked some clothing and acessories. Games started to give out avatar rewards for completion etc. Basically tie the avatars to progress.
Avatars are visual representations of users of the Xbox LIVE service on Xbox 360, Xbox One and Windows Phone.[1] Avatars debuted on the Xbox 360 as part of the "New Xbox Experience" systems update released on November 19, 2008. Numerous Halo-themed items are available for avatars on Xbox Live. There are seven different types of items: tops, headwear, accessories, props, bottoms, shoes, and "dress up" (full set outfits).
Numerous items are also available for purchase with Microsoft Points prior to August 23, 2013, and with local currency thereafter. All tops, save for the Firefight hoodie, cost US$1 (80). In headwear, hats cost $1, helmets $1.99, and masks $2.99. Props cost $2.99 or $3.99 (save for the RvB Grifball which is only $1). Most full "dressup" outfits cost $3.99, though several cost only $2.99, and a few cost $4.99. The other three items are Corbulo Academy Pants & Boots and the Halo Cargo Shorts, both costing $1, and the Laser Kill Ring for $0.50. For the full catalogue with exact prices and additional currencies, see the Xbox Live Avatar Store.
To check out all the items, which range in Xbox Live Points price from 240 down to 80 points a piece, and see some screenshots from the upcoming Toy Story 3 game release on Xbox 360, head over to the Xbox Marketplace and check them out. Thanks to my son Christian from ArticHawk.com for the heads up!
Now, I must admit that I thought it strange that paid Avatar items didn't make the transition to the new Dashboard. Even for Microsoft. So while digging through the Avatar Marketplace I clicked on the Most Popular items tab. You know, just for kicks.
Avatar items are available for customizing your Xbox avatar and gamerpic seen by others. From the Xbox One dashboard, select your profile, then Customize profile and Edit avatar to choose purchased items. If FM7 items are available they will be added here. Forza fans may also be interested in the FH3 and FM6 branded items available now:
Any idea why my avatar isnt updated? I downloaded the app and choose one of the standard avatars to get started, it saved that avatar as my avatar, i then edited the avatar and made a new gamer pic, it said successful, yet in the forums its not changed even after a week and multiple times trying
Classic Max Payne Xbox LIVE avatar items are digital avatar outfits or clothing pieces based on the Max Payne and Max Payne 2 character apparel. In total, there are 13 separate garments, 6 of them have female/male variations. The items were announced and released by Rockstar on January, 2012.[1]
The following parameters can be used to refine an Entertainment Discovery Services (EDS) query to a more targeted set of items. None of these parameters are required in any API, but they're accepted in any API that accepts query refiners.
The parameter names can be passed in as values into any "queryRefiners" parameter. This will then return the number of items that would be returned if the request were repeated with the query refiner applied, broken down by each value of the query refiner.
