Hello,

If you plan to attend Astropy Coordination Meeting 2025, SOC has now put together a tentative agenda. Not all details are finalized yet but most discussion topics are slotted, with some topics moved to possible breakouts.

I have reached out to some of you to possibly lead some of the topics. Please respond in a timely manner.

We need feedback from those of you who plan to attend:
  • If you are attending remotely and interested in certain topic(s), does this schedule work for you?
  • Did we miss anything you think is very important and must have its own slot instead of breakout? (Though we did go through all the proposed topics to date.)
  • General feedback on scheduling.
A couple of you expressed no interest in Lick Observatory excursion. If the excursion goes forward, you do have the option to not go and do breakouts/hacks instead. However, whatever you decide please do let LOC (Kyle Westfall) know for planning purposes.

Looking forward to hearing back from you,
Pey-Lian (on behalf of SOC + LOC)

Thanks for putting up this agenda. I do think that free-threading Python would deserve a spot on the schedule, as it's a major, undergoing change in the environment astropy is built upon that we need to aknowledge and discuss at some point, and this coordination meeting might be the best of times to do that.
Other than that, as a remote participant, any schedule suits me (I'm planning to simulate California time in my living room).
Cheers
Clément

Hi Clément,

Yes, I think we can spare a slot for that. There are still open slots available. Do you have a preferred one? 30 mins? Are you volunteering to present? :)

Thank you,
Pey-Lian

I'd prefer an early slot so it's less likely that I fall asleep before it's my turn ! and yes, I'm volunteering to introduce the topic.
Thanks again
Clément

Hi Clément,

I tentatively put your topic down as first slot for Thurs. Hope that is OK.

Also FYI to SOC/LOC.

Thank you,
Pey-Lian
