Hello all,

I have exciting news to share with you all: our Astropy NASA ROSES
proposal submitted early this year was successful! A successful
"traditional" grant is a major milestone for the Project as a whole,
and we should *all* be proud of this accomplishment together. But I
also want to especially thank everyone who was involved in this
proposal itself, in particular the co-authors Tom Aldcroft, Lia
Corrales, Matthew Craig, Kelle Cruz, Adam Ginsburg, Hans Guenther, Pey
Lian Lim, Adrian Price-Whelan, and John Swinbank.

As a reminder or if you didn't see it before, we are tracking this in
https://github.com/astropy/astropy-project/issues/161 and the
as-submitted proposal can be read here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/18JsTRahNWnvign6ao6BP_OkINHnP8g3n/view?usp=sharing

We will have a more thorough/public announcement shared in various
channels later, and of course lots of details to come via the Finance
Committee, but I wanted to be sure to share the news with folks in the
Project ASAP!

Congrats everyone — this is an amazing milestone for the project, and I hope we will at some point get a chance to celebrate this together!

Great congratulations on this!  The ROSES grants are highly
competitive and important avenues for introducing data
analysis technology into NASA's science programs.

Cheers,
Jeff
