We would like to officially announce the redesigned Learn.Astropy.org website. This site hosts a collection of tutorials and longer-form guides that cover a range of Python and astronomical topics, everything from coordinates and FITS to calculating orbits and making simulated images. These materials are intended to be entry points for both folks getting started with astronomy and/or Python. The tutorials can be read as rendered HTML or downloaded as Jupyter notebooks and run locally. We encourage folks to use the topical search functionality on the left sidebar to discover tutorials.

We also welcome tutorial contributions! If you have a tutorial that you would like hosted on Learn.Astropy, please open an issue and look at our contributing guide (https://learn.astropy.org/contributing/how-to-contribute). We welcome tutorials on niche astronomical topics if they use an Astropy coordinated or affiliated package. We are especially interested in tutorials that educators could use as part of a formal classroom environment.

The Astopy Project intends to maintain this site indefinitely to host and make discoverable as much content as possible. If you are interested in getting involved in this effort, please join the #learn channel in the Astropy Slack (request an account).

Another relevant resource is the Astropy Workshop (https://github.com/astropy/astropy-workshop) materials. These materials are organized as a one-day workshop but the notebooks and slides can be modified for use in a coding club, classroom, or a self-guided exploration. Feel free to fork the repository for your use case.

We hope you find these resources useful. Please circulate this announcement in any relevant channels in your networks.

Sincerely,

The Astropy Learn team
