Knuth's rule for multi-dimensional histograms?

Hello everyone,

quick question. This package includes Knuth's rule to determine the optimal number of bins, but this is for a one dimensional array only. The original article (Chapter 8) mentions that this method can be extended to multi-dimensional histograms.

I know this isn't implemented in astro-ML, but do you know if there is any package out there that includes this method?
