Hi, I'm a high school student doing a research project. I found this website while looking for tools that would allow me to automatically count stars from an image I took. When I use this website and upload an image, it takes a long time to process and displays "operation failed" on the screen, and then it doesn't provide any data extracted from my image.
What do I need to do to get it to count the visible stars?

Thanks.

Hi,

If you have a results page like this one,

If you click the "Source extraction image", you should get your image with the stars we detected in it circled in red.

But you want to know how many stars were detected...

In the text shown, you should see lines like,

object 48 of 49: 29386883 quads tried, 12254792 matched.

That "object _ of 49" - the "49" would be the number of stars detected.

I hope that helps!

PS -- if you look at that example image, you will see that you can see a lot more stars that are not circled in red - there are a lot more than 49.  That is because this site usually only needs the brightest stars, so it doesn't try hard to detect everything.
