Hello everyone !

Has astromety.net some option or ouput that can provide a distorion map of the input image  pre and post SIP correction ?

Thanks !

Hi,

I don't think so - I think you would have to re-run with the --no-tweak option (for TAN output), or "--tweak-order 1" for a tuned-up TAN solution.  The default will give you a SIP solution with order 2.

cheers,
dustni

Many Thanks, Dustni.

Then, do you think the solution with  "--tweak-order 1" could provide a good estimation of  the image distorion produced by the as-built instrument ? My idea is to have a first astrometry to compara the objects in the image with GAIA catalog and estimate a distortion map produced by the instrument. Then, I would increate the  --tweak-order 3 and repeat again the procedure and compare the improvements.

Cheers,
Jose M.

Sure, that would be a fair comparison.
