Hello,

I have downloaded and installed astrometry on my computer, but I'm having trouble getting it working. My OS is Windows 10 Enterprise, and I installed it under WSL. I'm not entirely sure that everything went right, since there were some hiccups, but it seems to have been compiled now. But when I try to follow the steps described on the page 'Building index files for Astrometry.net', I get stuck.

I have downloaded the 4100-series of  index files. When I try to run hpsplit on them, I get this response:

~/astrometry.net-0.97$ ./util/hpsplit -o /mnt/c/Data/LOUARN/index_files/tiles/tile-4100-%02i.fits  /mnt/c/Data/LOUARN/index_files/4100/index-*.fits
12 output healpixes
Reading input "/mnt/c/Data/LOUARN/index_files/4100/index-4107.fits"...
Got 4454259 rows
hpsplit.c:379:main: Failed to find RA and DEC columns (called "RA" and "DEC" in the FITS file)

It seems it can't read the binary part of the FITS file???

Can you tell me what I may be doing wrong?

Thank you

Hi,

If you downloaded the 4100-series index files, you don't need to follow the "Building index files" instructions -- those index files are already created and ready to use!

cheers,
dustin
