Hi,

For some of the FITS files with me, nova.astrometry.net works only after removing the header information. Could you let me know what all header information is read by the software so that I don't need to delete whole header data each time?

Thank you for making such a great software. It really helps.

Hi,
Could you please send a link to an example image before and after removing the header?
Thanks!

Also: what does "fitsverify" say about your FITS images?  Perhaps you have errors in the headers?  Nova.astrometry.net can be very picky about exact FITS adherence.

Sorry for the VERY late reply. I forgot that I had asked this question here. The issue does not arise when I compile and use the astrometry code on my machine. I believe this problem is exclusive to nova.astrometry.net. Please find below the output of FITSVERIFY. The same 5 warnings are there for all the FITS images with me (2 are due to checksum, which is understandable). I find the keywords CREATOR, DATE & TELESCOP repeated. Is any of this causing nova.astrometry.net to fail? Unfortunately, I cannot share the image since the data is not public yet.

Hi,

I think nova normally handles "warnings" but not "errors" from fitsverify.

It's really hard to diagnose anything without being able to see an example file.  Maybe you could replace the pixels of one of your images with zeros, and submit that to nova and send the link?  Assuming the problem is with the header cards and not the data, that should be enough to figure out what nova is doing.

cheers,
