Dear Dustin,

Back in november I asked a question about processing Euclid images. Back then, it was still a work in progress. I have since then found a work-around, but for my thesis I would like to include a small section about this. Is it still WIP? Or is there now a dataset small-scale enough to support Euclid?

Kind regards,

Hi,

For the Euclid ERO processing (https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2024arXiv240513496C/abstract), we developed an approach for dealing with Euclid images.

First, we found the VIS images weird enough that we had to split them into their quadrants and solve each of those quadrants independently.  Those are then quite small images, so we created the "-1" scale of index files for this purpose.  I just finished building the whole set from Gaia; they are named "index-52m1-*.fits", and are available here,

For the ERO stuff, for some fields we also tried index files using different catalogs.  I'm actually not sure what the minimal set would be -- we experimented with Pan-STARRS1, Legacy Surveys, and WISE.  I have not yet tried to produce full-sky sets at the "-1" scale for any of these.

If you wanted to test the Gaia-based ones against a representative Euclid image set, that would be extremely helpful, since I do not have any data access rights in Euclid.

cheers,
dustin

Hi Dustin,

Thank you for your reply. I am currently in a crunch to finish my thesis in time, but in August I may have some time to check this for you. I am not sure I have full access to a representative dataset, but I will at least test some images from the self-calibration field (around RA 268°,  Dec +65°). If I have access to other images, I will try and test those as well.

Kind regards,
Koen Looijmans
