Hi Team,

First I would like to wish you a happy new year, May this year brings you joy, happiness and success.

Can you please let me know what are the perquisites to solve an astrophoto , I uploaded  DSC_6484.JPG  (Submission 1405060)
The Orion constellation is easy to identify in this image (for Astrophotographers or beginners in astro.), but the web-Astrometry engine is not able to solve the uploaded image .

Details: the astrophoto has been taken with Nikon D800 with 70mm f/2.8 ISO-6400 and exposure-time: 5 sec.

Many thanks.

Hi,

If you look at the "source extraction" link on the status page, you'll see that our default star detector does not do a good job of detecting the stars in your image -- because they're a bit trailed.

I tried setting the "Downsample" value to 4, and also (for speed) set the "Wide field (1 to 180 degrees)" option, and quickly got this result:

Hi Dustin,

Your suggestion to put value 4 for "Downsample" setting, works fine, I uploaded again (with this setting) then the image DSC_6484.JPG has been solved.

Many thanks for your support.
