Does Astrometry.net query Gaia database?

Hi,

Yes, the web version, nova.astrometry.net, uses "index files" built from the Gaia-DR2 data release.  (We don't query the Gaia database in real time, we downloaded the Gaia-DR2 catalog files and processed them into summary files.)  These files are available at data.astrometry.net (the 5200-series files).
