Messier Marathon, GMRT, Pune

Hi All,

IIT-Bombay Astro Club is organising the Messier Marathon this year from 14th to 16th December. They are inviting teams from all the IITs across India.

Only one team is allowed from each IIT and it can consist of maximum 5 members.

These are the details of the event:

Venue: Giant Micrometre Radio Telescope, Pune

• The event is spread across two nights
• First night will be free pointing night where each team is allowed to practice and get acquainted with the sky for the next day
• The second night will be the actual competition where each team will be granted one telescope and they have to be point to as many messier objects as they can during the night. .
• The telescopes are 6-inch Tejraj telescopes. They might be able to arrange for larger aperture telescopes also.

They are also providing accommodation for the participants. The location is very promising and it would be great to visit GMRT too. So, sky-gazers out there, grab the chance!
