Hello!!

BlueShift, Columbia/Barnard’s undergraduate astronomy club, is putting on our annual Arts & Astro event on Friday, November 15th in the Theory Center (8th floor of Pupin) to celebrate the intersections of astronomy and art/creativity. We are currently accepting submissions with our interest form (found here) due MONDAY (10/28). Though we generally prioritize Columbia students, non-Columbia undergrad/grad/Ph.D students are welcome and encouraged to submit!

We are looking for artists and scientists to exhibit their astronomy (or space-related) work and would love for any contributions! Our 2024 show will be fully in-person, but we are more than willing to work with individuals who may not be able to make the event but would still like a chance to present their work.

In addition, we are looking for artists who are interested in collaborating with a scientist to create art out of astronomy research. Or, vice versa, scientists with research they’d like to have turned into art. We also would love to have scientists scientifically interpret space-themed art. Please fill out the form linked below if you are interested in being paired up for these collaborations (whether you are an artist or a scientist).

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or Blueshift’s president (Sofia Lawsky, sal...@columbia.edu). Thank you so much!

Best,

Sanya Gupta
