Join your neighbors and NYC-area astronomers to celebrate the US’s newest exploration of the Universe during Rubin’s First Look Watch Party! Using the largest camera ever built, Rubin Observatory will repeatedly scan the sky for 10 years to create an ultra-wide, ultra-high-definition movie of our night sky. It will discover millions of asteroids and exploding stars and billions of new stars and galaxies. These objects will reveal the content of our solar system, structure of our galaxy, and nature of our universe.
10am
- 11am Local
astronomers will tell us about the many ways that Rubin Observatory’s Legacy
Survey of Space and Time is poised to revolutionize Astronomy.
11am - noon
We’ll join
the “First Look” at Rubin images streamed live from Washington, DC.
Hosted by Columbia University in collaboration with Rutgers and The City University of New York (CUNY). With the support of Schmidt Sciences, Rubin Observatory and the LSST Discovery Alliance.
