Scaling and communicating between multiple FreeSWITCH server on ASTPP

What I want to do:
- Scaling by clustering FreeSWITCH to multiple server, so I can increase max concurrent of my system

What I have done:
- Installed ASTPP bundled with FreeSWITCH server (A)
- Installed FreeSWITCH on server (B) with mod_xml_curl, mod_json_cdr point to (A) and lua dial-plan DSN point to MySQL server on (A)
- Added FreeSWITCH on (B) to FreeSWITCH list of ASTPP on (A)

What is working:
- ASTPP can control FreeSWITCH on (B) (i.e. reload, rescan on ASTPP web interface)
- FreeSWITCH on (B) can read config, SIP profile, dial-plan, push CDRs to ASTPP on (A)
- SIP device created on ASTPP can login either on (A) or (B), and they can call other device as long as they are on same FreeSWITCH server

The problem is:
- Device that login on a FreeSWITCH cannot call device that login on other FreeSWITCH

Finally, my question:
- Are there any method that allow 2 device on different FreeSWITCH can call each other (e.g. when the callee device not present on same server try to contact other server)?
- Is what I have done is proper way to add more and scale FreeSWITCH on ASTPP?

Try with shared database. That needs to be configured in SIP Profile using odbc parameter.

With Opensips, you can do this in a relatively not complicated way.

This way Opensips is aware of all SIP user locations, so userA@server1 can call userB@server2.

You can also map register relays, for example in our sytem user1.mydomain.com is mapped to freeswitch server #1, user2.mydomain.com is mapped to server#2 and all registers relayed through Opensips. Since Opensisp saves SIP user locations, this way it will know the exact SIP locations of the users.

Since everything is relayed through Opensips, if user1 regiters through the Opensips.server, freeswitch will see user1's SIp user location as us...@opensips.ip

This is how it works in a nutshell.

Of course you can achieve a lot more complex setups with Opensips (failover is registrar relay, caching register data for example in Redis to distribute it between several Opensisp proxies, doing clustering, etc)
