Can you check if Apache is running or not ?
If you are using CentOS then try to disable iptables and enforcing then restart Apache

Also confirm if astpp directory exist under /var/www/html or not.

/etc/init.d/iptables stop
setenforce 0
/etc/init.d/httpd restart

CentOS ships with the firewall enabled by default, and only allows connections on port 22

Have you opened up port 8081 in your firewall rules?

Try

/etc/init.d/iptables stop

and see if you can get to the web page then

also if you take a VPS at www.fidonet.com we should be able to work with you on getting the most out of ASTPP - as well as provide some competitive rates through our ITSP fidotelecom.com (new web sites coming along slowly!)

We have both wholesale rates and retail rate sheets available although we don’t publish the wholesale rates online

Do you have the astpp.conf file in /etc/httpd.d/conf.d ?

You should see something like this (taken from our ASTPP test server)

Ok this output confirms that you do not have the config loaded into Apache at this stage

Have you tried restarted Apache since installing ASTPP?

service httpd restart

Then try

# netstat -an | grep 8081

and see if anything is listed

You should see

[root@sip conf.d]# netstat -an | grep 8081
tcp 0 0 :::8081 :::* LISTEN

If you’re running this on CentOS using rpm based Apache builds then the config should be in /etc/http/conf.d and not /usr/local/apache

Ok so you’re “off book” and not using a standard (recommended) install

You’ll need to check which httpd is running … is it the stock one or is it cPanel

You’ll then need to customise (roll your own) the setup so that it integrates into cPanel

The standard (recommended) way of installing ASTPP is on a clean machine with nothing else installed

It will work, it just means you need to do some “sys admin kung fu” to get everything in the right place

I see, I have a apache directory that renamed itself when I upgraded (from/etc/httpd/conf/ to /etc/httpd.old/conf/)
so it is the one on cpanel "EasyApache" that I am using right now

should I get a plain CentOS server instead of a web hosted one?

It would probably be simpler / cheaper and possibly more secure

A selection of viable servers can be found here https://www.fidonet.com/vps-hosting.php

Make sure you choose CentOS 6 though - wherever you choose to host it

www.fidonet.com - low cost domains, web hosting and virtual servers
www.fidotelecom.com - UK based ITSPA - holders of the ITSPA Quality Mark

Again let me emphasise the fact that you need to run astpp on a clean centos 6. Mixing it with cpanel is a NO NO
Get a fresh centos vps  and reinstall is my advice

some hosting services now give you a choice of ASTPP in the os selection so you may not even need to do the reinstall yourself   check also www.vps4hire.com

127.0.0.1 is fine no problem with that. Can you try with restarting httpd services ?
Also are you able to connect to database using those credentials (astpp-config.conf)?

Install fresh centos 6.5 or 6.6 minimal

do the following on ssh

chmod +x astpp.sh
./astpp.sh

Drink Coffee until its finished then visit your IP address.

Please note the installation of this script assumes you agree with astpp licence terms if not please do not install.
I developed this script from astpp script but what it does is reinstall the perl scripts at the end and configure your database ip and web ips. If you cant start apache after running it then it means selinus is enabled. Disable selinux and your apache will run

This is why it is better to try install manually first so you understand how it all works. Scripts are nice until something doesn't work quite right and then you have to know what is going on.

The install script is relatively easy to run manually.  So I would suggest using it as an install guide rather than pointing and clicking and then asking why it's not working.
