Hi,

When I get to this step,

ASTPP Install

1. Download ASTPP

We assume you have downloaded package from our Download section.
PATH for download should be /usr/src/
If not then please download it from here http://astppbilling.org/download/latest.tar.gz

cd /usr/src
tar -xzf latest.tar.gz

When I try to unzip the file, I get an error that the file is not in gzip format

Thanks in advance,

Steve

PS, obviously, it is because you have upgraded your website, but not updated the location of the file I suspect.

Yeah Version 2.3 source code is not maintained properly. I would suggest you to use ASTPP 3.0.

Thanks Samir,
Do you have similar instructions for installing v3 then? I have seen in this forum somewhere instructions to install v3, but it appears to only be a scratch install. Can you pls point me to install instructions for v3? Should I blow away my current progress or will these instructions take on from where I am currently?
Thanks,
Steve

You can follow https://astppdoc.atlassian.net/wiki/display/ASTPP/Debian+8+Installation+v3.0 to install ASTPP latest version.

If you want to install using installation script then follow https://astppdoc.atlassian.net/wiki/display/ASTPP/Quick+Installation. In this case, I would suggest to clean the server and execute the steps.

Hi,

I'm using the V3.0 manual install. Got to
mysql -uroot -e "UPDATE mysql.user SET password=PASSWORD('<MYSQL_ROOT_PASSWORD>') WHERE user='root'; FLUSH PRIVILEGES;" (changed <MYSQL_ROOT_PASSWORD> to the myself password I set earlier, but I get this error

mysql -uroot -e "UPDATE mysql.user SET password=PASSWORD('xxxxx') WHERE user='root'; FLUSH PRIVILEGES;"

ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

Not sure if this effects, but I have to SSH to my server as admin user, then sudo su and ran these commands.

PS, I also got an error

ro...@ip-x.x.x.x:/usr/src# service nginx reload

Job for nginx.service failed. See 'systemctl status nginx.service' and 'journalctl -xn' for details.

Thanks in advance.

Why is no one helping me with this? How do I get past these issues?

I think the sql command is wrong, I think I should specify the hostname, can you pls just make sure the instructions are correct, if so I can finish this install. It would also be great to know why the service didn't allow me to start it.

I just want to finish this install, I'm paying for a spun up vpn that is just sitting there while you ignore my please for help.

Steve

Apologies for late reply.

1. MySQL password issue : It seems some other password has been set and because of that its giving error like "Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)"

2. Nginx error : Look at /var/log/nginx/ logs. It must be showing some errors and reasons.
Send it here.
