Ok, wait a second, I did try multiplayer over the internet with p2p with other people and had alternating successes and failures... now, why would you want to use a VPN to do that and does that mean that you are connecting to a server or are you still using p2p connections?
The more I read the more confused I become...ha ha OK: I now have Tunngle ... and you say we both have to use the same acf in the same directory.. OK am I understanding this correctly the same plane model in the same Directory (x-Plane 10/Aircraft/General Aviation/Cessna 172SP/Cessna 172SP.acf) the reason I am asking because I installed my X-Plane 10 Directory on my Desktop but my brother installed it on his E: Drive, but we have the same directory structures (only on a different drive) and his is not on the Desktop.
My FULL path would be: C:\Users\Denny\Desktop\X-Plane 10\Aircraft\General Aviation\Cessna 172SP\Cessna 172SP.acf
His would be: E:\X-Plane 10\Aircraft\General Aviation\Cessna 172SP\Cessna 172SP.acf Would that still work?
And what do we need to do inside X-Plane 10under multiplayer? Do I need his IP? and does he need mine (considering we would both be using Tunngle? I sure would appreciate the help
We are both old and we have been trying to fly together for a very long time now and just could not figure out all the IPs, Routers, LAN, WAN etc ha ha
The directory referring to x-plane subdirectories starting with the Aircraft folder. So the default aircraft would work as they are setup that way. It has nothing to do with what drive. I don't remember with Tungle, but I think you can right click on the persons info to get their public IP and this is what you enter under Network Connections in multiplayer. Also if you want to be able to have different liveries so you all don't look the same, just duplicate the aircraft and name it with a -1 or the persons name like -John at the end and the others will have to do the same.
You can also accomplish all of this without a go between if you are familiar with port forwarding on your router.
There is also a plugin called Netflight that may still work and you don't need IPs. Flyingwith.us is the site you can get it from. I do know that the plunging did have issues with Skymaxx though in the past.

I just saw a mention about using a VPN tunnel service called Tunngle, designed for playing games in a simulated LAN environment. Some older games that used to use GameSpy are now relegated to LAN-only multiplayer. It looks like Tunngle creates private networks for each game so that you can easily find others playing the same titles. I'm naturally wary of a client that is going to create a VPN network shared with random internet beings, so I thought I'd jump over here and see what you all think of this.
It's compelling that they sort of the different games and even list out what's available. For example, I saw 70+ people connected playing the old Flat Out 2 title. It's not like setting up VPN with a friend or two is impossible to do, but restoring open multiplayer to games like this is really interesting.
Using VPN software, like Hamachi and Tunngle, you are able to connect to other people on the internet as if you were on the same local network. The combination of VPN and the Open to LAN feature of Minecraft allows you to play multiplayer Minecraft, with a select few people, easily and privately over the internet.
There are many different programs that you can find to play multiplayer games like this, but Tunngle stands out because it has way more features than the competition, including displaying a list of networks and users playing different games, as well as the ability to access any one of them with just a click.
5) Alt-Tab to the desktop, re-enable your Internet adapter. Tunngle will reconnect itself. Now everybody should have done this disconnect trick. If you want to join the host, when you go to the multiplayer section you will see the game and now you can join!
I have a problem, i do all the stuff as said in the guide, age of mythology sees my tunngle ip(7.xxxx) and my friend can see my game but when he joins a counter starts and it just hangs there until the counter ends:( I have disabled my firewall and port 11155 is open) can u help me?
For a long time, computer games with Internet multiplayer have come bundled with a LAN mode, meaning you can play the game with other computers hooked up to your local network. With VPN software, you can simulate a LAN across the Internet, thus allowing you to play a LAN game over the Internet.
Why would you want to do this? For one thing, there are some games (either very old or very poorly made) which only support multiplayer gaming over LAN. In cases like this, using a VPN like Tunngle is the only way you can play with your friends without all of you being on the same network.
As of 30/04/2018, Tunngle was shut down. New regulations emerged regarding user data protection and Tunngle did not have the means necessary to update their system to meet those new regulations. As a result, Tunngle is no longer a usable source to play multiplayer Edain.
