Newbie: Forward to Cell

Greetings

Before I start my first Asterisk project I want to make 100% sure I
start in the correct direction. I am looking to replace a simple
analog PABX because it cannot forward to cell. It forwards to another
analog line fine, but to a digital line like a cell phone it does work
well, it cannot detect the cells hang up.

I have been told by PABX people that no analog system can detect the
hang up on a digital network. They, of cause want to sell me a new
conventional digital pabx. I think I would rather go with Astrisk, but
do I need digital hardware or can I follow the guide below and go with
analog cards (our lines are currently analog).
