Raspberry Pi running raspbian wheezy
Asterisk 1.8 installed from raspbian repository

Could somebody please give me step by step directions for installing g729 on raspberry pi?

I downloaded the file from: https://bitbucket.org/samm_hg/asterisk-g72x/ and ran ./configure make and make install, but g729 still doesn't show up when I run core show translation in asterisk.

Much Thanks.

You probably need to read project README

Hi,
I managed to compile g729 on a raspberry with these steps:

http://asterisk.hosting.lv/src/asterisk-g72x-1.1.tar.bz2
./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var --sbindir=/usr/bin --with-itu --with-g729nofp
make
make install

but voice quality was terrible, maybe I just had too many calls going on.
