The Job
Leadership advisory role for Backcountry.com senior management team providing guidance to all leadership in basic employee
relations issues, including employee coaching and counseling, documenting employee performance, and termination
procedures
Ensures that the human resource strategy is implemented effectively and within established budgets and that the organization
complies with relevant regulations, law and employments standards
Evaluates departments future workforce needs and initiates a variety of human resource-related local programs to ensure that
current and future human resource requirements are met
Promote workplace diversity through fair hiring practices
Designs and implements employee and leadership training including policies, communication, performance management,
benefits, etc
Participates in special projects for HR as needed
Administers compensation programs, benefits and pension programs and workers compensation, ensuring compliance with
Federal/Provincial legislation
Assists leadership with the annual performance management program, including leadership consultation and data management
to ensure effectiveness, compliance and equity within the organization
Communicate with management and employees to answer questions, clarify policies and processes, create solutions and
resolve issues or conflicts
Supports corporate initiatives and communicates to leadership and employees as appropriate
Health and safety coordination in compliance with local laws and regulations
You
Bachelor's degree (B. S.), or Master’s degree plus five years of directly related HR generalist/leadership experience in a similarly
complex HR environment. Multi-national brand experience preferred
Highly developed sensibilities around (corporate) cultural nuances in order to effectively influence stakeholders and maximize
organizational potential
Ability to work with an energetic overcharged HR Director
ADP/HRB system experience is required
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Develop and run basic reports out of databases
Ability to maintain confidentiality and build strong relationships with a diverse workforce
Objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues
Make recommendations that effectively resolve problems by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices,
policies, procedures, regulation, or law
Exercises good judgment and effectively uses decision making skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and
draw valid conclusions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to travel locally 20% of the time
