I ask this here because this is the most conservative RC mail list I
know of. I clearly remember that in the days before Vat. II it was
considered scandalous to visit protestant worship services except for
special events honoring personal friends. Does anybody still believe that?

That is not my point of view, but I know folks who still observe it that way.

I don't believe there are any strictures, except that you should probably
not receive their communion (as it is a sign of shared belief).
